Thanks a ton for all your thoughts 33!

I agree... I don't see anyone predicting 10-12 wins either, but what is so wrong about getting excited about the upcoming season? The guys are working hard and that will pay off in the end in some way.

But I also believe that nobody on this team will be scared to line up against anyone. Chizik asked for a raise of hands when he first met the team whether or not they all believed they could win each and every game they played the year before walking onto the field. Chizik said that less than half raised their hands. That is not acceptable to him.... and it won't happen this year. We showed last year that we can play toe-to-toe with Oklahoma... so that means we can play with anyone!

As for Maggitt.... where do you think he will end up? LB or DE?

Maggitt was told coming in he would have a shot at DE, and he wants to play DE, so im saying he will probably end up there. Redshirt this year. work on his speed and size, and eventually hopefully make an impact for us.

These kids and this coaching staff arent sitting around thinking, Gee, we could be worse than last year, our QB and Kicker are going to be inexperienced, and well im really worried about them playing their first away game at kinnick stadium.

They are staying focused and working hard with one thing in mind, in the back of their mind. But none the less, the big 12 championship is in their mind.

We fans know that this could be another long season, Chizik hasnt fully implemented his guys into this system. We do however have some guys that fit the system well. All that is being said, and is being realized here is that This summer, These guys made a tremendous stride in their conditioning and strength and some guys are taking over.

Why am I not worried about starting new guys in key positions? Austen Arnaud has been there, i have 100% faith in him running this offense, However I think Phillip Bates may have something to say to that. Phillip Bates is a pure bred, in your face, feed off of the adversity, 100% competitive football player who is not going to be phased by high pressure situations or hostile enviroments. He lives for that, and you can tell by the way he plays.

This whole team has taken over that special aura, and confidence is high as ever among them. To them every man they line up against is a human being, just the same as them. They know that Coach Chizik has been there, and that this staff and Coach Shepperd has them where they need to be to compete with everyone they line up against.

Noone in this thread is underlining a 10 win season. The excitement is that progress is being made, and we are going in the right direction. Also, it helps fuel the fire for how excited everyone is to get into Jack Trice Stadium. And they can also be a huge part of the teams success by disturbing the hell out of, firstly SDSU. Who frankly isnt going to have experience in that situation. And then the excitement can carry on and help the team out further down the road.

sorry for the long post, im just tired of everyone thinking this is a national championship prediction thread. Take the sunglasses off and get excited for Iowa State Football, and if you so happen to not have purchased your season tickets, I encourage you to do so to help put this thing in the right direction. Do your part
I don't think anyone is predicting a national championship. I do however think that many of us are accutely aware of what Chizik brings to the table...experience with national championship caliber programs in both the SEC and the Big 12. That is what the national championship references are about...plain and simple.

I cheer for two teams, Iowa State and whoever is playing the hawkeyes.
