For the excitement, This team is about 10x ahead of what we looked last year at this time, and for obvious reasons. A machine is being built here and its awe inspiring to see the changes that have developed in certain areas. These guys arent going to be the tired souls in the 4th quarter, thats for damn sure. More muscle has be packed on, and good things are happening. Hopefully we can put it all together a little better this season. However i just wanted to give everyone a little excitement about what is happening with the conditioning of these fine men here on the Iowa State Football team. The freshman are doing well and some already have the "im going to steal your spot" mentality.

Its not to give anyone a big head about our football team, im just letting everyone know that the system is falling into place very well, and we have some fine tuned, well disciplined guys on this team, thanks to Coach Chizik and staff

That is what I always love to hear. And it is kind of what I expected at the close of last season. After hearing reports of how things were going when he first got here. I could tell it would be just a matter of time until the staff gets these players fit into their mold.

You could see it starting to happen at the end of last season. So while others say they are concerned about the first couple games. I think if what we saw last year is any indication, that we won't be seeing a repeat of the results this year.

But I never like making predictions on what will happen atleast until and can see the product on the field.

I dont believe we will see any sort of struggle this year against SDSU, things are in place and its going to be so much easier for the guys and this staff to run a smooth well executed game.

I wouldn't get too overconfident about SDSU. This team has alot of new faces at critical positions and that takes time to come together.

I hate being a Debbie Downer, but it seems like we hear this stuff practically every year. Doesn't stop me from getting excited for the start of the season, though. Less than 7 weeks to go......

im not saying we are going to win 10 games or beat SDSU, im saying guys have gotten noteably faster, D linemen have added muscle, lost fat and added speed. Cameron Bell is a freak, Kelechi Osemele is going to be a OLine phenom for us. Im just telling you, there is cold hard evidence that there has been a tremendous improvement after summer conditioning, and a week and a half remain.

Just knowing the offense and defense has to be huge for the players, plus the building up you mentioned. We were a decent team at the end of the season. I see no reason we won't build on that this year. This will be fun!

You dont have to be jumping from the rooftops, but a little optimism isnt a bad thing.

Oh I'm optimistic. I wouldn't be putting the money I am into the program if I wasn't optimistic. I would call it reserved optimism though. Let's not get the cart ahead of the horse.

I heard from a football player that KO (haha when I typed this on my moto q the KO came up with text results KOBAYASHI) was a freak and is going to be a stud and that he is a freak on his lifting regimen. look for big results from him he said

A friend of mine at work spoke to an Auburn grad/fan recently, and once he found out he was from Iowa, he raved about Chizik (unsolicited). He said Chizik totally revamped their Defense, and did the same at Texas. Players loved him too because they always knew where they stood with him. He wished Chizik was their head coach, and is now a fan of Iowa State too because of Gene. Nothing earth shattering, but it's always refreshing to hear a totally unbiased opinion of someone.
