Would you go back to Shreveport?
With all the speculation that has been going on lately regarding the 2008 football season, I couldn't help but wonder about this. A lot of people think a 6-6 or 7-5 season is a strong possibility this year. If that happens, the chances would be quite strong that we would be in line for yet another trip to the Independence Bowl in Shreveport. What I wonder about is, how many of you have been in the past, and how many would go this year if we went back?
It seemed like for our first trip the fan following was very strong. It was our second bowl game in a row, the team was solid, Shreveport was a new destination for us, and we were playing a big name team in Alabama.
The second time around, the support was off quite a bit. I think we had started getting used to going to bowls. After the first trip to Shreveport, it seemed many people I know who went determined it to be a dump that they would rather not visit again. And it probably didn't help that we were playing a mid-major opponent in Miami of Ohio.
Personally, I went to both games in Shreveport, and while I would say it is without a doubt the least desirable Big 12 bowl destination in my opinion, I would certainly be there if we make it this year. I think it would be a great step up for this team considering where we have been, and I would want to continue to support them, where in the past I think the Shreveport trip has seemed like a consolation prize for missed opportunities. Hopefully Chizik can get this program to the point where I can feel a trip to Shreveport is really a disappointing result, but right now, I am feeling the need to go bowling just about anywhere.

Re: Would you go back to Shreveport?
for this group of ISU FBallers... Hell yes.
EDIT: only bowl game I missed was Boise (excluding the bowl games in the 70's)

Re: Would you go back to Shreveport?
I didn't go either of the first two times and I think I will go to any bowl game we make it to...

Re: Would you go back to Shreveport?
If you take away the city and the less than desirable places to stay....tailgating in Shreveport was a blast! I would shorten the trip down there to make sure we arrived to tailgate all day and stay only the night of the game there.
Cyclone
Iowa State became the Cyclones after they leveled Northwestern in 1895. As the Chicago Tribune (9/29/1895) noted:
'Struck by a Cyclone
It Comes from Iowa and Devastates Evanston Town' -
Re: Would you go back to Shreveport?
I will go to any ISU football game, any time and any where, if afforded the means and time to get there. For this year's team to get a bowl game, no matter how non-prestigious it might be, would be an enormous accomplishment. I would expect a great Cyclone turnout if we were to go back to Shreveport this year.

Re: Would you go back to Shreveport?
Shreveport was much better than I thought it was going to be. The people there were very kind, although they spoke very slowly.
With our fans, I would follow the Cyclones anywhere. It's the people that make it fun, the location only enhances it.

-keep Same here. The 2nd time we were in Shreveport we went down to New Orleans for several days and it was a blast.
I think I would definitely make the trip.

Loved the Alabama game. Went in with low expectations and came away pleasently surprised.
Would go back in a second with a quality (name) opponent.

Re: Would you go back to Shreveport?
I'm not so sure. I went the 1st time and that town is a dump in my opinion. I'd almost go to some crappy bowl in a nicer city I think.

Re: Would you go back to Shreveport?
I will NEVER go back to Shreveport; twice was enough.

Re: Would you go back to Shreveport?
We went the second time. The Blind Tiger was a great place to eat and drink! Felt strange, though, going to a football game in a fairgrounds setting.

Re: Would you go back to Shreveport?
I probably wouldn't; once was enough.

Re: Would you go back to Shreveport?
Don't we have a Cfer connection in Shreveport to host some festivities?

Re: Would you go back to Shreveport?
I would go back. First bowl game in a couple of years, any opponent from the SEC would be fun. I had a good time road tripping down and while in Shreveport too.
