Re: J.J. Bass
This will hurt, but hopefully we can make it through it. A lot will depend on injuries. All three of our feature backs were injured at some point last year.
A-Rob appears to be the starter now and showed a lot last year. I shudder to think about what will happen if he gets hurt. Scales will likely play for the first half of the season or so until he gets hurt. I'm not sure if redshirting Jeremiah Swartz was in the cards, but I don't think it will happen now. Hopefully we can have a nice thunder and lightning approach with him and A-Rob. Next year Bo should add some high quality depth to the position.

One class and he did not pass? Shame.
Looking forward to CFH magic for the next bball season, Georges style. -
Re: J.J. Bass
One thing to keep in mind for those that for some reason like to count attrition in the first couple years of a coach's tenure - Bass was recruited by the prior staff Not that it should matter, but some will try counting this against Chizik somehow.
A program isn't built on one player and it doesn't succeed because of one player, thus a program won't fail if it doesn't get that one player. -

I get the feeling Chizik was glad to get him. He was one of our highest rated recruits last year.

Well, we can't pin it on Mac.

This sucks - I was really looking forward to having several RBs to go to. I hope things work out for JJ and the team.

Exactly.. with us most likely having a weak passing game... we needed JJ.
Lets be honest. We need guys like this to pass to have a chance to do big things.

Re: J.J. Bass
Yeah, this really sucks. A-Rob came through for us last season, but as has been noted before on this board, JJ seemed to be a more elusive and better overall back, but dealt with an injury most of the year. I was looking forward to hopefully have him healthy and being a major contributor this season.

ARob was ok.. but not exactly a gamebreaker. One more year until Bo... one more year.

Re: J.J. Bass
I thought and still think that A-Rob was our best running back. That being said, I was REALLY looking forward to having A-Rob, JJ, and Scales, all bringing a little something different. I fully expect that Austin Arnaud will be crushed by a piano that fell out of an airplane and Sed Johnson somehow ending up at A&M. While tongue may have been a little ways into my cheek on that last comment, I honestly expect going into any football or basketball season nowadays that one of our top 5 potential players will fail to don a uniform...

So is he gone for sure now?

If we had a little drop off between our first and 2nd stringers (mostly due to inexperience) we may have been a 1-2 loss team that year. Injuries at the TB position devastated our record. I don't think we can afford to lose any of our scholarship backs right now.

Almost too painful to think about.
