I have absolutely no idea. And I don't think anyone knows if it could work in ISU's situation - including the staff.
It has worked and it has failed for teams at all levels in the past. It's hard to know what the right recipe for a successful QB tandum is. IMO, one of them is to have a pair of QB's with styles that greatly differ from one another - makes the defense work that much harder. While Arnaud and Bates are not mirror images of one another, they both can play a similar type of game.
I have no knowledge of anyone on our staff being part of a two QB system, so I'm not sure if there is any experience with it on the staff...outside of the few games it was used last season - and that wasn't what I consider a "true" dual system.
I'm not really for or against it in Ames. I want both of these guys on the field yet there are more cases of a dual system failing than working
