After practice gets going he should be at least 265 come time for the season. Anyone heard if he is a DT project?

I don't have anything concrete, but I have always felt he was headed to DT. With the type of weight he is already carrying, that transition should be a smooth one.

I don't think he is going to DT. I saw him at Jordan Creek, and he is tall, lean, and packed with muscle. I was impressed when I saw him, because he really has focused on putting on muscle and size the right way. He is tall and with long arms just the way Chizik likes his DE.

You are probably remembering DT Shamus McDonough. I recall hearing that there is no relation.

Please coach Chiz, don't turn this kid into a DT. We need some 260-275 lb animals lining up at DE. Look at the rosters of most of the BCS schools and see what size their DEs are, they're not 240-250, I'll guarantee you that.

I saw him too. You are right, the kid is a speciman. The amazing thing is all the wt. gain is good wt.

Its amazing what a good weight program can do for a kid. Im sure Valleys weight program was tops yet he can come in and take it up another level. Hats off to Shep and staff.

I grew up in Gladbrook where Shamus lived. He is not Shamus's kid.

Was Shamus an Earl Bruce recruit, or Donnie Duncan? Where is Gladbrook? For some reason I thought Shamus was from Chicago area.

FYI, I just got back from vacation and in my mailbox was the 2008 media guide. Jake is listed at 268#'s. Physically he would be the largest DE on the roster. I'm not sure if he will be ready mentally but physically he looks like he could play this fall.
