ISU not in Wegher's final 5 schools
Sorry if this has been posted or those that already knew. http://football.hawkmania.com/2008/0...iowa-nebraska/

Yeah, Arkansas would be great. This will be the only time I root for Petrino.

Re: ISU not in Wegher's final 5 schools
My neighbor, who recently moved back to Arkansas, was the razorback Mascot in college. He even went up to Bristol, Conn and was in an ESPN commercial. We went down and visited them recently and saw the campus etc. Ive kindve adopted them as a secondary team. I wear there gear from time to time.

Re: ISU not in Wegher's final 5 schools
"We never wanted him anyways..." "I think that people are responding to someone standing up and saying this is what we want to do and let's not be afraid to go for it,'' Pollard said. "I think Iowa State has a very conservative, modest background. We never pound our chest and say `Let's do it.' It's OK to set a goal. You can't do it if you don't say what you want to do. You should be proud of it.''

Re: ISU not in Wegher's final 5 schools
I don't think we were ever under serious consideration for him.

Re: ISU not in Wegher's final 5 schools
I think we were the first to offer quite a while ago, but I never saw anything that indicated he was taking us seriously.
Exaggeration is a BILLION times worse than understating. -
Re: ISU not in Wegher's final 5 schools
If you read the article and the other article about Drew Clark (different thread) they both just brush off the bad publicity and say "Kirk will take care of it" thats a lot of faith from those kids when nothing has really played out yet. Whether it be ill guided or not, i hope they dont get burned...

Looks like the oline for EIU will be bare when he is ready to run if he goes Iowa.
Looking forward to CFH magic for the next bball season, Georges style. -
Re: ISU not in Wegher's final 5 schools
Some interesting quotes from that article. Author seems to be pretty much spot-on: Brandon said that when he was on his last visit to Iowa, he and his parents sat down with coach Kirk Ferentzand asked what was going on with all the legal troubles. “He couldn’t really explain it that well to us. He just said it was the kids’ choices and they’re trying to resolve it,” Wegher said. You have to wonder, though, if David Barrent’s decision Monday to pull his commitment from Iowa in favor of Michigan State had anything to do with the situation in Iowa City. Maybe he felt like Ferentz’s days are numbered. Maybe he didn’t want to join a program that appears, from the outside, to be falling apart. Gene Smith, 1993-2000. 7 years, 6 NCAA's, 1 bowl game. Revenue sports postseason participation 50%. Good. Bruce Vandevelde, 2000-20005. 5 years, 4 bowl games, 2 NCAA's, 2 NIT's. Postseason participation 80%. Better. Jamie Pollard, 2005-. 4 years. 1 bowl game, 0 NCAA's, 0 NIT's. Postseason participation: 13%. The next big step. My ignore list: splitidentity, tarheelhawk, superdorf, clones_jer. That is all. -
Re: ISU not in Wegher's final 5 schools
Wegher is probably smart not to come to Ames. He would be competing with ARob, Bo Williams, Jeremiah Schwartz, and now Blankenship for playing time. His odds of playing at Iowa are much, much better right now IMO.

However, I can certainly understand your personal desire to see him in the cardinal and gold.

His loss. IMO ISU's immediate future is brighter than both iowa's and Nebraska's.
