Is that what Shaggy's percentage was? If so, that is pretty solid, but I don't think he had much hope outside of 40.
Any kicker that gives you 75% in college is a solid kicker I think. Of course, when those misses happen sometimes matters.

That's why I said inside 40, I don't think he was automatic over 35.
Shaggy was 82% for his career inside 40 yards, and 7-17 (41%) from 40+.

To those of you who are lamenting about the great kickers of yesteryear, remember this:
The goal posts were much wider then. And in the college game, they never moved in the hash marks when they narrowed the goal posts.
It's actually harder to kick a field goal in college than it is in the NFL.
Shaggy was a very respectable college kicker. His problem was that, aside from the Iowa game, he missed at the most inopportune times. Unfortunately, those are the ones people remember.
Thanks for the stats. Honestly, I was never really that down on Shaggy, but there were some heartbreaking misses. When he was off, he seemed to really be off. Honestly, if we had a more potent offense, no one would have been complaining about his kicking. He was solid. We should be driving inside the 20 more regularly I hope.
I know some people have mentioned kickoffs, but that is a different story. I wasn't focusing on that.
Who gives a **** about the dimesions, if you are recruited to kick the ball, then kick the ******* ball. I am sick of hearing about him only being a freeshman. You should always expect the best out of yourself. I don't donate for a kicker to try!!!!:skeptical:
Very true. But missing clutch kicks inside 30 yards is killer.
Coach Mac love to take the foot off the throttle and try not to lose.
