Ames Trib Article On Linebackers
Interesting read....

Bibbs just wants to get out on the field, period.
He struggled to pick up the playbook last season after transferring from Copiah-Lincoln Community College. Bolt said he played strictly on "natural ability" as he recorded 19 tackles in limited playing time.
Bibbs says the playbook is no longer an issue and credits coach Gene Chizik's faith in him as the reason he survived last season and has a chance to earn significant playing time in 2008. "Coach Chizik brought me a long ways," Bibbs said. "Coach Chizik is the only coach that didn't give up on me. He kept pushing me to learn the plays and that gave me confidence and I think that's why I'm in the position I'm in right now."
Mid-Iowa Newspapers - Linebackers expect to do more than just replace Bowen and Banks

Hopefully Chris Brown can get back on the field soon.

What an awesome quote. We definitely have a great staff in place and I'm not just talking about their football knowledge.

where does Camron Bell fit into the LB corps? I remember everyone being so impressed with his size and speed.

I think they're grooming him to take over for Bibbs next year.
Re: Ames Trib Article On Linebackers
What type of playbook does a linebacker have? I understand there are some defensive plays called in the huddle; or do LBs use playbooks to study offensive formations, routes, and blocking schemes?
Re: Ames Trib Article On Linebackers
Seems like Garrin is getting a lot of mention in the practice reports. Has a couple picks already, which is good to see from our linebackers in the defense we play. He had a lot of offers coming out of high school. It's too bad Mac didn't use a redshirt on him as he would only be a sophomore right now and he could continue his progression and possibly be a 3 year starter.
Re: Ames Trib Article On Linebackers
There are a lot of responsibilities that could come for a linebacker as far as playcalling goes. Where to blitz, whether or not you are in zone, what kind of zone are you in...the list goes on and on.

Doesn't that mean that the rest of our coaches gave up on him? I don't see another way to easily interpret that.

I thought the same thing. But I'm assuming he meant coaches in CC and High School.
