The thing I see with most of these previews is that they view a position battle as being a bad thing. Their view of Iowa State's QB situation is: 'neither Arnaud nor Bates must be that good because if they were, one of them would be named the starter by now'. I think both QBs are good enough to do well in the Big12, but which will just do well and which will do exceptional- that is the question that is trying to be determined, not which is the lesser of two evils.

that reviewer also thinks we lost to Iowa last season......and unless there is a new rule that says you can only win by scoring a touchdown as opposed to having the most points, I'd say he's wrong. They should check their facts

I think you miss-read. He mentions we lost to Northern Iowa, but the Northern and the Iowa were on two separate lines so it would be easy to think that. He doesn't say that we lost to Iowa anywhere on that page.

I agree that a position battle is a good thing in this case. Especially after reading the completion % that both have against a solid DB core. There are a lot of pass break-ups and that kind of thing, but that is coach-able in technique, and it sounded like most were on blitzes'.

I thought it was interesting that you stated our DL should be a strength. Most on this board and probably more, think it will be an Achilles of our team. You did some research and didn't regurgitate the same crap we always read, so for that I say good work.

I wasn't sure how they thought our DL would be the best part of our defense. I would guess our secondary is the strong point. Although, if those unproven DT's step up, it could be our strong point.
