Wait. We're giving time to Miller's show. I can't keep up...do we like his show or is he a Hawkeye Homer and we need to let him know that we don't like that radio here. I never know what mood I should be in.

This is a dumb question to ask. It's like asking a kid if he could pick the two hottest chicks to marry, who would he pick? Sure it builds optimism, but we have to think more realistically like what standard do we set ourselves to?
But to be honest, if I really wanted to take any two games and guarantee us wins for them, it would be UNLV and Kent St. Not only is it completely unexcusable to not win these two, but it is not completely out of the picture. Losses in these two games would just completely throw our season down the ******.
Win these two we are looking at 5-6 wins.
Lose these two we are looking at 2-3 wins. Maybe.

If we're bad enough to lose to Kent State and UNLV, we're looking at one win.
That ain't gonna happen--and I think you're setting your goals too low. It's a hypothetical question anyway, so take the guarantee in a game we don't already have a good shot at winning.

The Nebraska game would be a close 3rd.

Re: Good topic on Jon Miller today
This is hard because my top picks are conference home games and you like to use your picks on a road game.
I guess I'll go with Texas A&M because it's homecoming and I just read about Sedrick Johnson's difficulty with his family. This could help ease that pain.
The next pick would be Missouri. I think they are going to be the toughest team on our schedule.
My other considerations were Nebraska, Colorado, Kansas, and Oklahoma State.

Re: Good topic on Jon Miller today
Pick two games that if you could ensure ISU would have those as W's right now, before the season starts, which two would it be and why?
From an ISU perspective, I picked Iowa and Kansas...because that would perhaps 'ensure' that ISU starts 5-0, and that puts you close to bowl eligibility, with a roadie at Baylor in game six.
As for yesterday's 12-0 talk and 10-2, it was fun.
But honestly I dont think there is a game on Iowa schedule that I couldnt make a case for them winning, and I think there is just one game on ISU's schedule that I could make a case that they could win it.
I am not saying we are talking high chances in all games for both schools, but we are not talking Miracle on Ice miracles here.

i'd pick KU and Okie State. KU will probably be ranked and on TV. Being able to win at Okie State would be a great step for this program...

When I look at Iowa's schedule, I don't see any game that I immediately think 'No way can Iowa win that game'. Some will be harder than others, and the probability of winning some games are lower than others. But I see no sure fire loses, such as if Iowa were at Ohio State this year, I would draw a line right through that one.
When I look at ISU's schedule, the Mizzou game is pretty much me drawing a line through it. Outside of that one, I think ISU has a 'chance' in every one of the games, at this point in time.
That is me giving ISU some benefit of my doubt with regards to how their defense will stack up against the run this year, which I do have my doubts about. That being said, at this juncture, and due to my respect for Gene and Wayne, some games I give them a puncher's chance to win, such as Kansas...because last year, they showed, post de facto, they had a puncher's chance to beat Oklahoma.
