This is a good idea. I love listening to Bruns after the game and I think he would do a great job.
Re: 1st State of the Nations on Tonight
I used to like Jon, and Steve Deace for that matter. Not anymore. Well, that isn't true. On his own, Jon is a decent guy put in a hard place. But I am done with KXNO and him by extension. Covering for KF (SHPE) and the Hawks, while refusing to talk about the story is pathetic. Absolutely pathetic. So I will not be watching this show either.
Deace is like those people I talked about earlier. I would say maybe one in five Spartan fans are actually Spartans first and Michigan second. It is beyond horrible. Yeah, sorry you couldn't get into that school, and they didn't want you, but sure, keep on cheering for them. Does the term tool come to mind? That real school comment did me in too. His continuing vitriolic hatred of Mitt Romney is the last straw for me, and I think I know the reason behind this.
So Jon and Steve can play pattycake tonight all they want, and have their Big Ten party. Hopefully somebody finally has found some footage of Erin Andrews doing laundry, so I have something to watch. Mmmm, Erin.

Well, I'll let you know when ESPN gives me the call man. Just know I won't spend a 2 hour show talking about my favorite albums I'm bringing on an island.....

Not listening and not watching is fine. We all have priorities with our time.
But don't confuse my not seeing things exactly the same way you see things as 'refusing to talk about the story'.
I spent 8 hours in two days talking about it on July 21st and 22nd alone, and it wasn't a rosy picture I was painting of Iowa.

Until you do sports talk in Des Moines, Iowa between the months of May and August, don't knock anything until you've tried it ;)

The day he put Michigan over ISU, and was a huge jerk about doing it too, was the final straw for me and many other Cyclone fans.
I like Deace, and I also consider him to be an ISU fan, but I also completely understand why people don't want him to be the voice of the cyclones. He doesn't hide the fact that Michigan is his favorite team, and that's not the kind of person we want to be "our voice".

Deace isn't your 'voice'
He represents the ISU side of things on a TV show.

It is always dangerous to assume there isn't somebody out there that can do your job better...

I know that there are people that can do a good job at what I do.
I just don't think its someone with a BS in psychology.
Now, I suspect you could break down the Nats better than I could, as you would probably have the inside track there.

I think there are quite a few people in the sports media that didn't study it in college. And I would take my chances breaking down just about any pro team, not just the Nats...

So why is it that nobody has yet to ask KF (SHPE) if he knew where the incident happened, and still had players move into that room? If they have, please post his response.
KF is the lowest of the low. Stop and think of the impact his actions have already had on justice ever being done.
Would you want your son to play for this man? Would you want your daughter to go to Iowa right now? Where if you accused others of committing sexual assault you get called names by other football players and student athletes, as if you were the bad guy? It reminds me of A Few Good Men. KF could have put an end to this with one order. One. Apparently he couldn't be bothered, only the media deserves a muzzle.
Am I going to be small-minded and bitter about the whole thing until I get my pound of flesh? You bet. Until the jerk gets tossed out of his job, my crusade continues. What is sad is that true blue Hawk fans should be the ones doing this. The guy is running Iowa athletics into the ground and taking the university down with him. But hey, he went to some January bowl games a couple times, let's wait until the character of the whole football team hits rock bottom.
Quick question: Has KF even hired that life-skills coach yet? Funny how big a problem the Register and many others had with Chizik hiring one, because he came from a religious background. How did that thing turn out again? Which place would you rather send your child to learn, play athletics, and better themselves as a person? Be honest, you know exactly where. Not even close.
Re: 1st State of the Nations on Tonight
Ah, now KF and the Nats have been pulled into this. A true CF discussion.
Re: 1st State of the Nations on Tonight
I think a lot of people do hate on Deace for his religious and political views and then hide it behind his feelings on sports.
However, I don't really buy into the whole Michigan fan thing first as a problem. I actually think in some ways it is a plus because you are getting views on ISU from someone who is knowledgable about college sports but isn't a total homer. A lot of you will bash him for going for Michigan, and then turn around and bash on Jon or the Rag for being hawk homers. And Deace is out about his feelings about Michigan.... someone please call me when Keelor puts a column in the Rag outing himself as being a tool for iowa athletics.
As for State of the Nations though, I can certainly see the need for someone different. Jon is representing the hawk side as a true fan born and raised, and Deace just can't bring that same view. In the interests of a fair and balanced show here I think you really do need to find someone from the Clone side that is drinking the kool-aid a bit. Deace isn't the appropriate counter for Jon on the show, but outside of the show I think his detached relationship with ISU sports allows him to be a little more objective.
