Re: Just tuned into ESPN

Well, the last time we played them we lost at home and kept ourselves out of the Big 12 championship game.

Re: Just tuned into ESPN

I just watched this (DVR'd), and here's what happened...

Email: Will Baylor win a game in the Big 12 this year?

Robert Smith: (Strength of South, resurgent North, etc.)... BUT, Iowa State. I look for [Baylor] to have a good chance against Iowa State.

FWIW

Thanks for the real story. Certainly not the picture painted in the original post.

Exactly, Bryce.

Total conference wins for '06 and '07...

Baylor - 3
ISU - 3

Don't fool yourselves folks...in today's environment, we're not any better than Baylor. When it's that ugly and even, the edge goes to the home team. It's a 100% valid statement that Baylor has a good chance against us this fall.

You can call that mindset pathetic, I care not. It is reality.

Exactly. The only way to change this is win games. Period.

Yeah, I agree with you. They way it was actually worded, I'd have to agree. Baylor does have a good chance against us, certainly better than any other BigXII team on their schedule. I just took offense that it sounded like they were calling it a sure win.

Nothing like debating if your favorite team in the entire world is good enough to beat Baylor at football. It takes a lot to be ISU fans.

Re: Just tuned into ESPN

We can't exactly brag about us being SO MUCH better than Baylor. I've witnessed us lose to them. Who cares what those guys think anyways? The way I read it is that Baylor will have a chance against us and I think that's fair. We're projected to be near the bottom of the north and it's a home game for Baylor. It's going to take a bit before we can get offended by picking us to lose.

I've seen us almost lose to Toledo and actually lose to Toledo, I've seen us lose to Kent State, and I've seen us lose to Baylor.

People need to relax, but I don't think any conference win for us is automatic, and overall I don't think any game for us will be that way either. I think we will be better, but I don't know if we'll dominate anyone this year

The only way we’re going to get respect from the national media is to go out and earn it; and I think we can. Go Cyclones!

No more of this pathetic mentality, folks!
Actually, yeah they have, and it was already mentioned here. They beat us in Ames when we weren't considered the conference doormat. Why should anybody outside of ISU's fanbase think that we have a chance of beating them on the road when we are considered the doormat?

Do I agree with the guy who said they were going to beat us? Not necessarily. Am I surprised or even upset that he said it? Not at all. If anything, it's locker room bulletin board material for the week of that game.
