So there might be someone pushing Brandtner for his job. Kuehl with a 48 yrd punt.

Thumbs up Re: Offense wins first scrimmage

Good to hear this:
PK Grant Mahoney: nailed a 35-yard field goal into the wind in his only attempt of the day.
PK Zach Guyer: Series 3: booted a 25-yard field goal, his only attempt of the day. Series 7: kicked a PAT.

Brandtner is fine--especially when he doesn't pooch kick half the time now. Kuehl redshirts.

Long list of players and their highlights at the end of the summary. Looked like QB Austen Arnaud, DB Kennard Banks, RB Jason Harris, and WR RJ Sumrall had the most big plays.

I'm telling you Kennard Banks is all over the place everyday. This guy is on a mission.

Does anyone else get the feeling from these practice reports like Arnaud is playing pretty damn good? Thats the way its sounded to me. It seems from the write ups that he has the edge

RIP #27 and #2

I'll order up another shot of sin, I'm running twice as hard into the wind, I'll hitch a ride when the next one comes in, fell off the wagon again...

Ditto the thoughts on Banks and Arnaud.

Cyclone
Iowa State became the Cyclones after they leveled Northwestern in 1895. As the Chicago Tribune (9/29/1895) noted:
'Struck by a Cyclone
It Comes from Iowa and Devastates Evanston Town'

Funny, no mention of Sed Johnson? It looks like a lot of receivers are getting to show there stuff.

Is Banks the DB in the picture above?

I was wondering the same thing and according to the roster, if the practice jerseys match up with game numbers, it is. And the guy he is covering is TE Collin Franklin

It looks like I was wrong about McDonough. I didn't think they would convert him to a DL, but it must have been too tempting with his size.

Good eye Boone - we'll see I guess but if he can continue to fill out he could definitely be a force inside.

Based on that picture alone he appears to be physical - which is nice.

Re: Offense wins first scrimmage

Maybe it is just me, but the O beating the D kind of worries me. I always hear that at this time of year the D should be ahead of the O and it sounds like the O put it to them and it seems our pass D hasn't improved much either.
