I am looking for a great view of the field. Heck..I've been on the sideline several times and didn't like that either because I couldn't see squat.
I want to watch my Cyclones. I want to see the plays develop and not have any sight lines interrupted.
I've been pretty much everywhere on gameday in JT (lower level, upper level, endzone, hillside, sideline, pressbox suite) and in my mind, there is no better seat than 50yd line first few rows of the balcony.
This is the reason I donate more, but choose to sit West Side balcony on the 50.

If you want to watch and see the action on the field on every play and not have to watch the scoreboard, the balcony is the best spot.

I spent a season in the balcony and it just wasn't for me. It was like I was watching the game on television. Kind of like I wasn't even there. I like being close to the field. It's just my personal preference.

I'm not debating the view in the balcony.
Can't we at least agree that labeling the entire lower level (less the top five rows) as "poor viewing" is probably not a fair assessment of our beloved JT? | | |

The single-digit rows in the lower level will cause the most line-of-sight problems unless you're in the NW corner. There, you can watch the field and be able to glance up at the video board without twisting around too much.

Depends on personal preference....thus the reason I started my statement with IMO in my original post and then qualified it afterwards with "others will say this is not the case". It is my opinion after 20yrs of attending games at JT and sitting pretty much everywhere.
I stand by my original statement, but will clearly restate it is my opinion only.

I have 11th row balcony, 45 yard line. I'm really hesitant about trying to move down below, just cause i dont want to get stuck down low. Love my seats. I just wish we didnt have the damn faculty taking up the 1st 10 rows.

I sit in Row 10 on West side. We like these seats, just behind the visitor team bench. I wouldn't want to sit much lower however.....due to more obstruction from visiting team, camera truck/dolly etc. Sometimes receptions close to the West sideline, south end are harder to see.

Kindof depends what you're going for... front row balcony 50 yrd line gives you that feel of the standard camera angle, how you'd see it on TV.
But a lot of guys on here played football (at some level) so you have an idea what 1st row tickets are like. You're seeing a totally different angle and things get blocked, but you get the jist of it.
Front row offers a little more excitement and action when the plays near you ... its kind of a trade off, excitement and awesome closeups 30% of the game or seeing the whole field and not having to look at the screen all the time.

Thanks for the info. I've been reseated into row 6 on about the 30 yrd line. Guess I'll just have to deal with it. Go Cyclones....it's going to be a great year.
