Thursday, Aug. 14, 3rd scrimmage
The grass always looks greener, on the other side of the fence, but the dog over there might be meaner, on the other side of the fence… Stay in your own yard, play in your own yard! -
Re: Thursday, Aug. 14, 3rd scrimmage
Sounds like the Offense was really pounding the rock today, and successfully at that.
Lots of Bass, yet, no mention of A-Rob. Here's hoping it's not injury-related.

Looks like Bates was hot.
Looking forward to CFH magic for the next bball season, Georges style. -
Re: Thursday, Aug. 14, 3rd scrimmage
I stand by my words. Bass is our best back. Arob isnt far off and has different positives.. but its good to have JJ

JJ Bass was a stud last year when healthy. All he needed to do better was make people miss, but trust me, Bass would have been well over 1000 yds last year if he was healthy all year.
One other question I have.... didn't Michael Tate get a RS last year? Everyone has him listed as a senior, but I thought he got a RS last year? I hope he's only a junior.

For some reason, my gut's telling me Bates might just pull it off...

Sounds like Sed was tearin it up!!
I also spoke with a friend on the inside, and he said the team is MILES ahead of where they were last year!!! He also said he would be absolutely shocked if we dont see alot of Phil this year. So take it FWIW

I dont think we will have to worry about that. I get the feel that we could very easily see both guys play and excel -
Re: Thursday, Aug. 14, 3rd scrimmage
Sounds like Schwartz had a great scrimmage too. Perhaps A-Rob is nursing an injury.

Re: Thursday, Aug. 14, 3rd scrimmage
This is what I like to see... Zach Guyer went 3 for 3 on field goals -

Early in 04 when Meyer was struggling, there were plenty of people screaming for Mac to put in Flynn. And last year, there were lots of people screaming for Arnaud. I know we all like to rag on Iowa, but we are not so gracious ourselves.

Re: Thursday, Aug. 14, 3rd scrimmage
Sed seems to be making plays which is great to see. Roosevelt Maggitt is still making plays. Schwartz seems to be avoiding a redshirt. Darks name keeps popping up. Lots of youth making plays. Can't wait for the 28th!!!!!!!!
I don't think I'm alone when I say I'd like to see more and more planets fall under the ruthless domination of our solar system. -
Re: Thursday, Aug. 14, 3rd scrimmage
2008 Iowa State Football Training Camp Central Series 2:
- QB Phillip Bates also had a hot hand early, completing all four of his passes for 55 yards. Bates' favorite target was newcomer Sedrick Johnson, as he caught two balls for 17 yards, the last a 28-yard fade for a touchdown where he out-jumped the defender in one-on-one coverage. Umm...so the other catch was for minus eleven??? -

No, it was just bad writing. They are saying that Sed caught 2 passes. one for 17 yards and one for 28 yards.
