Re: It's that time. ISU Football.
I have heard that some bookies have ISU's season at 3-4 games as the OU.
They should have that covered by the start of the conference.
Make sure you don't call the charge. But make sure you call the foul on the scrum.... -
Re: It's that time. ISU Football.
I’ve just spent the entire day going over the schedule and I don’t see a loss on there. -

Re: It's that time. ISU Football.
I put us down for 6 wins. I think any guesses between 4-7 wins is very reasonable though.

I thought 7, but then I realized that I needed to include the bowl game too!
Cyclone
Iowa State became the Cyclones after they leveled Northwestern in 1895. As the Chicago Tribune (9/29/1895) noted:
'Struck by a Cyclone
It Comes from Iowa and Devastates Evanston Town' -
Re: It's that time. ISU Football.
hey isu fans! non cons are all wins as far as i can see. then baylor and kstate are wins. next comes a&m, isu could win this game based on a&m having a new coaching staff etc. colorado could also be a win as they have been very inconsistent under hawkins. i do not see you beating NU, Missouri, OSU, or KU as they all have greater talent and in at least 2 cases better coaching (could be argued that NU has a better coach as well but it has yet to be seen).
so coming from a fan of NU/student of ISU, i can honestly see ISU winning between 6-8 games. good luck guys and i look forward to talking football with you in the future.

Re: It's that time. ISU Football.
no more than 5 games this year. just because a game in winnable on our schedule doesnt mean we will win it. we ALWAYS lose a game or 2 to those who we should beat. i may be the only one who will say this, but baylor scares the crap out of me.....
There are not many crowds or places in the country that have a better impact on the game than at Iowa State. The Cyclone fans are truly a sixth man. The place is so loud and always a fantastic crowd." - Former Kansas and current North Carolina head coach Roy Williams -

I totally agree with this, however I must bring up the fact your "fav team" is also bringing in a new coach. And while your comment on having more talent is from the fact that Bill could recruit not coach, I don't agree that there is a big enough difference for NU to pull this out in their first year with the new system.
Also, you can't really see with Cotton on the staff that your offense is going to get better can you?
NHL teams need to be added to the favorite teams section. -

4-7 wins is reasonable. I'm predicting 5. I think we'll win a game we weren't supposed to and lose a game or two we were supposed to win.

Kool-aid always tastes best in mid to late August... I say 8 wins and a GOOD bowl game! -

I agree that six wins should be the over/under, but I still haven't decided whether I'm voting seven or eight wins. This is not the same team you saw last season, especially the one we all saw struggle over the first half of the season.
*note--I had to fix a typo right before I hit "submit". I had accidentally put an 'e' for an 'i' in the wrong place in this sentence:
I agree that six wins should be the over/under, but I still haven't decided whether I'm voting seven or eight wins.
...which had brought an entirely new meaning. -

So tell me - what exactly is the difference between A&M and Nebraska at this point? Both have brand new coaches and questions at positions all over the field. Either we have a chance to win both or a chance to win neither, especially considering both games are at home.
Chuck Lidell: I paint my toenails with pink and black polish. Problem is, I get more paint on my toes and on the carpet than on my nails. Any advice? Maria Sharapova: Don't you beat up other guys for a living? I don't know how to answer this. -
