Re: What do you think of ISU-KSU at Arrowhead
I'm TOTALLY in on this one! My kids live in KC, my tailgatin' buddies are in central Iowa and I'm in NW Arkansas so KC is the perfect central point for all of us to team up. Plus we all had such a blast up there for the ISU/FSU game!
count on us for at least 10 people next year!
Never argue with an idiot. They will bring you down to their level and then beat you with experience. -
Re: What do you think of ISU-KSU at Arrowhead
What is the likeliehood of season ticket holders getting a ticket to that game in our season ticket package? Are we going to have to purchase a seperate ticket, much like road games just to go? I wouldn't like that. Granted it's a good chance I'll go regardless, but I don't like the idea of losing not only a home game but having to pay for another ticket that would have been a home game to begin with.

Re: What do you think of ISU-KSU at Arrowhead
I'm neutral on this. A lot of my feelings depends on the money coming in and what they do with season tickets. I hope they work it as an option. Part of my fear is turning off the casual fan who has season tickets who sees no reason to go to KC. On the other hand, it would be nice for those going anyways to be able to pick up the ticket if they wish. If it means a couple of more million in the kitty, I like the sound of that. If it gets us closer to bowling in our own stadium, lets do it. The big draw back, that playing in KC adds another 190 or so miles on to my already 350 mile trip to see the Cyclones play.

Re: What do you think of ISU-KSU at Arrowhead
1) ISU will be getting a check from King Carl that hopefully parallels the $1M that KU and MU each got.
2) Tailgating atmosphere at Arrowhead is the same as at Jack Trice...lots of parking around the stadium, and lots of BBQing going on.
3) I drive back to Ames from KC for every home FB game, so it'll be nice to only drive 30 minutes for the game.

Like I said in the other thread, it is almost mathematically impossible for ISU and KSU to include this game in their season ticket packages. If each school sells 35,000 season tickets, that's a total of 70,000 and Arrowhead's seating capacity is "only" 77,000. That would never work.

They're doing for the money, and it was because the Chiefs approached the teams.

75% love it.
This is getting pretty decisive, I'd say th right choice was made by JP.

Re: What do you think of ISU-KSU at Arrowhead
For those expecting this to be an ISU "home" crowd I urge caution. I attended the Iowa vs KSU Eddie Robinson Classic a few years before ours and as well as Iowa travels there were WAY more KSU fans there and they were loud. They travel well, maybe not as well as when they were really good, but I expect them to be there in droves. We need a LOT of people to make the trip and not just expect our KC fanbase to do the job alone.

I'm almost positive that when last year's MU/KU match-up at Arrowhead was first announced, they said right away that it would be on ABC. I remember it because at the time people said "Big whoop--Missouri and Kansas? Who would watch that?" Of course by the end of the season, it became the biggest game of the year up to that point.
And this year's MU/KU match-up is already scheduled for Fox Sports Net.
Apparently the press conference was set for 10:30 this morning. Anybody have any official info yet?

I don't know how they will handle allotments and distribution of tickets for this game, but it seems likely that the KState fans will show up for this game, and it will be a lot easier for them to show up with a large number of alumni in the KC area. Cyclone fans will need to step up and show up to this game in order to make sure it is actually a neutral site game.

So why not include the first game in the season tickets and let KSU include the second game in their season tickets. That seem like the most logical thing. Although, from the standpoint of an AD I wouldn't include it in the season ticks. They'd be getting more money from everyone having to buy tickets unless all those profits go to the chiefs organization.

So looks like it will be an additional charge to season ticket holders and no guaranteed TV deal.
