Especially in the rebuilding state the program is in at the moment, I have no problem with scheduling opponents like SDSU.

The only Big 12 schools NOT playing a I-AA team this season are Nebraska, Texas and Texas A&M. However, Nebraska has 2 lower-tier WAC opponents, while UT and A&M are playing Sun Belt schools.
