Re: Spirit walk on Thursday
A thought: If they want the Spirit walk to be something special, they need to find a way to get the crazies across the road on the south side of the stadium to come up and join making the tunnel with the folks on the north side of the stadium...OR change the location and do it from the East side of the stadium. The walk needs more people to participate...more energy to make it something really special!
If you haven't been there and been a part of it, it is a great feeling for you and your own kids. Also, the players getting off the bus that have busted their backside all week to see the field appreciates it as well as the coaches...you can see it on everyones faces and in their eyes...it is great experience for all!

The grass always looks greener, on the other side of the fence, but the dog over there might be meaner, on the other side of the fence… Stay in your own yard, play in your own yard! -

I think to get the most out of it, they should pull the bus over next to the student tailgate section and have them all walk through it. Then, proceed across the street at the corner of University BLVD and SE 16th St with a mass of fans lined up all the way to the Jacobson Building. Of course its a longer walk, but with the adrenaline flowing and the fans yelling, it would be awesome!

As a part-time driver of the firetruck I have loved this since we beat Iowa in Iowa City when we drove it there. The band being a part of it is something they started last year and they came after the team the first week.
What you see in Tennessee and Ole' Miss, the band is the focal point for a while. I'm hoping that the band and cheer squad will be there early, then by the time the team busses show up, the fans are in place and jacked up.

On Monday's Applebee's call-in show, Chizik and Pollard both made it a point to say how much this pumps up the players, so hopefully a lot of people can make it! It also really impresses any recruits that Chizik may have with him, as they ride the bus too!

I'm hoping that the band and cheer squad will be there early, then by the time the team busses show up, the fans are in place and jacked up. There were admittedly some timing issues starting out with directors knowing and being aware of what time it is the busses with the players showed up. Hopefully we have those solved but the Thurs. night game might make the sched weird. On normal Saturday games the problems have been worked out. Implementing a new schedule for a gameday always has some kinks that need working out. The intent is that the band is there before the team and there have been a couple changes made to our game day rehearsal/warm up/pep rally stuff to allow for that. We should be there.
The band was told that this spirit walk is something Chizik really wants to become a big tradition and a big part of the game day experience. There was a desire that there be something similar to that Tennessee video that was posted but with our stadium not being located in the central part of campus and being surrounded by parking lots so evenly and there not being one main direction (or some kind of explanation like that) that the fans were located in, it made it more difficult to accomplish.
It would not surprise me at all that in the next few years if this walk begins farther away from the stadium (maybe drop the players off at the north of tent row and walk all the way in led by the band or even maybe from Hilton or something). However, before that can happen there have to be enough fans involved in the walk to warrant that otherwise you have the team walking through an empty parking lot for no reason. But from my understanding of Chizik's/Pollard's/"V"MB directors this event will hopefully continue to grow toward a bigger and bigger event for fans/band/team to participate in as a tradition.
