Yeah, just keep the Sports Pak throughout the football season. Its only $4/month and they'll have some pretty good games on there.

For one they'll be showing UNLV a few weeks from now.
Well...as I've explained in the past, I don't discount what exposure of the program means/does to building a fan base.

I agree. I'll take the trade off of less HD channels for more ISU programming every time.

It is really two-fold for me.
1) what I want - the most ISU programming I can get
2) what I think is best for ISU - having as much ISU programming on as many TV sets in Iowa as possible.

If you are watching the game on Mediacom, you should be sitting in the stands instead!

Sorry got things to see and people to do, so I will be watching from my living room.

Just for curiousity, what does Dish cost per month? And are all Dish channels HD? I am just curious, I am not a big HD person in fact HD has very little appeal to me. However, I would like to compare the two to see which one is a better (cheaper deal).

I was never charged a hook up fee. I haven't canceled it yet, so don't know about the termination fee either.

Go Cyclones! - Go Kohawks!

I still have Mediacom and have been very happy with them. That relationship is near an end if I'm forced to support the BTN.

FYI to all - I called last night, waited on hold for 15 minutes, then within 2 minutes of talking with a customer service person my Sports Pak channels were working. Cost $2 to activate the new service.

Wow it will really be mellow watching just cbs, nbc, fox, abc and iptv

I can understand not wanting to support the btn, but no matter what service you use, you are supporting them

When asked about the ISU @ Iowa game: Iowa wide receiver Derrell Johnson-Koulianos said. "This has to be the most important game of the year. We've got to treat it like we're playing for a Big Ten championship."

What you guys fail to understand is the level of support via a national satellite service is small compared to the cable companies serving the Big 10 states. The difference was an order of magnitude and the revenue from the local cable providers is a big difference maker. The cost for out of region providers and for national satellite providers is something like 10 cents and I'm not sure if they are forced to take it on the basic package like they require with the local cable providers.

The issue isn't the impact it has on my financial situation. I can afford it. The issue is the revenue it generates for the BTN and our main rival simply because you are a subscriber to their basic cable service.

I keep posting on this topic because it's clear nobody understands what is going on here.

Re: Thursday game on Mediacom Connections Channel

I realize that cable companies and satellite providers outside of the bigten foot print pay .10 per subscriber (or some number close to that since actual numbers are unknown)

But it was reported in the footprint all satellite and cable providers were requested to pay $1.10 for the channel. Now we know that there are no providers actually paying full price for the channel. I would imagine that they probably met somewhere in the middle. And I do imagine that since when the network was created direct TV was owned by fox they are probably paying less than every other provider, but I imagine between major cable companies and dish network they are all paying pretty much the same price.

When asked about the ISU @ Iowa game: Iowa wide receiver Derrell Johnson-Koulianos said. "This has to be the most important game of the year. We've got to treat it like we're playing for a Big Ten championship."

Mediacom Watchers

For those of you worried that it wont be on because High School Baseball is listed on the guide....they are showing the Knoxville Raceway show which according to the guide for Des Moines means they will show the game at 7:00. Fingers crossed, hoping that this is a good sign.
