Register Game Preview

I went to get a few things to tailgate (well beer) and picked up a Register to read the preview of the game tonight. I have not read the Rag in sometime and I guess I wont in the future. Instead of a a preview of the game we get a story on how the new play clock will affect the game. WTF, this could have been wrote about for 3 months but they chose game day to run this story. What is wrong with writing a game preview? They wonder why papers are going broke, readership is down, and they get negative reviews. Give me something to read.

I'm not an expert on sports, but I did stay in a Holiday Inn Express last night

Re: Register Game Preview

I felt the same way when I went looking to the Rag for some pregame coverage (yes, I should have known better). No analysis, total fluff. The Rag really does earn the beating it takes around here.

Well, they have their excuse for not doing their job, now.

They whine about reduced readership, without realizing that their prior incompetence preceded competing forms of information by several decades.

They do not know anything about ISU or SDSU, and don't care. They would have to WORK to write a good article.

Not to interrupt some perfectly good ripping on the Rag--but I believe they did their pregame stuff yesterday. I know, it's weird, but they started doing it a couple of years ago. Maybe because Friday readership is higher (for Saturday games).

Hawkeye journalistic graduates do not do Cloney articles. It is bemeath them. Instead they have the Captain to write about.

EIU is the other Okoboji University for serious students and home of Captain Kirk who pilots the Enterprise on its Trek through the Universe for finding his next great job. Captain, beware of your Superbowl.

Re: Register Game Preview

Just to be fair, I just noticed that the Register did a quite reasonably decent preview in today's (Saturday) paper for Kent State, so maybe the complaints here last week did some good. Or they were waiting for a weekend game. I dunno. Still, feel free to look again.

I know this will get lost in the post-game posts, but I still had to post it.
