Re: Section B=old people=lame fans

I was in N the last 2 years we got told to sit down many times we ignored them, they moved! We weren't standing the whole time, just in critical situations (3rd downs) and celebrating when we got to. If they dont like it tell them to go shove it up there you know what and to stay home if they want to talk on their phones and sit throughout the entire game. You paid for your ticket too!

There really isnt anything worse than having people behind you sitting on their hands the whole time.

There defintitely was something going on around the M and N section last night. I was far enough away I couldn't tell what it was, but the sheriffs were most certainly involved.

Every yard for ISU!

I was in Section B, Row 13, seat 24&25 last night and it was a little bit lame. Nobody scowled or told us to sit down but we did feel bad that we kept obstructing their view. I think some of the fans just need to get warmed up. By the 2nd quarter most of them were better about getting up. ISU should put out a fan policy that reinforces standing and making lots of noise in with cyclone club mailings.

Also, nobody is section b rattled their keys or raised their voices in syn with the kickoffs. What's up with that?

If they go to a football game to literally "sit" in the stands, that's their prerogative. But don't let them bring you to their level or dampen your enthusiasm. Standing and cheering is expected out of fans. Down with the blue-hairs!

You needed to look exactly 6 rows behind you. We were standing, and shaking keys.

It is true that there were a lot of people sitting in B, but we stood, celebrated, etc and weren't asked to sit down. We just didn't stand the entire game like the students do. It was a little more subdued than some of the other sections, but that's just par for the course.

Same thing everywhere, some people just do not understand the ethics of a live sporting event. If you can't or won't stand, and you expect everyone else in front of you to sit and accomodate you, then you should save your ticket money and buy a big screen.

In defense of the old folks--most of them have been supporting the clones since before some of you were born. Without their dollars for tickets and to the CC, there would be no hope of ever bowling in the south end. Lets face it, at some time around social security eligibility age, the body no longer has the energy to stand and yell for three hours. Be thankful for their contributions so that you have a team to yell for!

Tell them to buy a skybox suite. They they'll have the right to tell people to sit down in their section. It's college football, if you aren't standing, you aren't winning.

Re: Section B=old people=lame fans

Football season is here, time for the sitting - standing debate threads. It is like this every fall.

In my humble opinion, bottom line, either extreme is wrong.

As fans we should be up more than down, and cheering loud. Especially on kickoffs, key plays, third downs, dg . It can really have an impact on the noise level on the field. Excluding those always standing or sitting, I think this is where most of the fans are.

Those that yell at everyone to sit down when they stand up to see a play or on a third down are a pain.

On the revers side, in my opinion, those that stand the whole time and do not keep an eye on those around them and the effect it has on other fans can be just as bad. If someones view of the game is blocked totally by someone standing, and most of the section is sitting, then there needs to be some common sense.

This applies not just to old people. When your 9 year old is crying because she cannot see anything (standing) because someone will not sit down part of the time, then it has gone to the other extreme.

I also saw this at the KU game last year where some drunks refused to sit at all to let some kids behind them even have a chance of seeing the game.

It really is about courtesy and awareness of what your section is like.

Those who are constantly yelling to sit down, (especially at key times) are annoying. However, the opposite can be just as annoying.

Just my opinion.

Re: Section B=old people=lame fans

I just can't believe we already have so many threads about this this morning. Get over it... it's the same way in EVERY stadium with every group of older people who can't stand for 4 quarters vs the younger alumni who still want to support their team by standing to show that they won't let down. They'll be fine, you'll be fine. Just give respect to everyone and LET IT GO!!!

I cant stand it when people tell you to sit down at the game. Its like they expect you to be as lame as they are. We are in section 2 and the people there are great. There are some older people in the section but they were standing right along with us. What a great atmosphere...love being back in Jack Trice.

You weren't one of the dopes looking back trying to get the rest of us in section B to stand and sway during the abomination that is Sweet Caroline, were you?

I was the one that was directing my boo's toward you, if you were.
