Des Moines Register Editor
How does the DMR's editor have a job? If the editor even graduated from college, it had to have been the University of Iowa or at best a community college. The DMR's website has 2 HEADLINES with misspellings. It's not like a message board where spelling errors are expected. This is the biggest newspaper in the state of Iowa. They spelled "Cyclones" as "Cycloines" and "Cyclons".
Here are the headlines....

My Cyloines are sore following a 10 k run this morning....
Re: Des Moines Register Editor
It's a two Syllable word, you can't expect a newspaper to get that right.

Nice, take a shot at Community Colleges. Are community colleges for dumb people?
Re: Des Moines Register Editor
ILCC (Iowa Lakes Community College) we used to call it "Idiots Last Chance College"Just kidding, don't get your panties in a wad if you went there.
Re: Des Moines Register Editor
Community colleges? Visit Kirkwood sometime and see a gorgeous campus, great academics and by the way great athletics. Enrollment 15,000. Doing a great service to the people of Iowa and Cedar Rapids.

QFT Duff (Quoted for Truth). But I think he meant it sarcastically about CC and wanted to dig at the editor of the Rag versus CCs in general.

Re: Des Moines Register Editor
People still read the Register?
Re: Des Moines Register Editor
I graduated from Iowa State, but my only writing courses were at Kirkwood and/or DMACC, which if you have read any of my posts will prove his point. I didn't take offense to his reference as it is the place for some, like me, to go after not scoring well on the ACT. They are great schools for what they do, but they are not on the same level as most Universities. But we all know great minds and great people that start there...

Doing the same thing again and again, expecting different results.

I'd say Community Colleges are doing a better job than the University of Iowa....

It's the same situation at the Ames Tribune. Read an online story there a few minutes ago, grammar and spelling both were atrocious.
It requires only a moment or two to re-read what you've written and make corrections. I was a journalist for a number of years, so I cannot understand how it is the Trib and the Register post stories in dire need of copy editing. I don't get it; that is, imho, no excuse can justify such sloppiness. It's a disservice to their customers, and it's unprofessional.

Register Editor Bryce Miller is an Iowa grad and a huge Hawkeye football fan.
