ISU Billboard in Tampa
My roommate who works for Cerner and travels to Tampa every week for work. He was driving to lunch today on a very busy road down there and said he saw a huge billboard that said IOWA STATE FOOTBALL and then had our helmets on it too. It was advertising the ISU alumni club in Tampa. He said he was going to go back by and get a picture of it after he gets off work. Kyle S. Flander -

I take it the one in Clearwater (thread last week) is nowhere near this?

Re: ISU Billboard in Tampa
For real? Damn...that rocks. Not once have I seen a billboard for any team other than the locals 'round here.

Re: ISU Billboard in Tampa
When I was in high school, we did a tour of Cape Canaveral.
While on the tour bus heading away from the visitor center towards the launch sites, I saw a sign for Iowa State University - Everglades research site. Found that kinda neat.
Football? That's interesting.

Trying to get our name down there for all the football talent they have and I must say I love it!
NHL teams need to be added to the favorite teams section. -
Re: ISU Billboard in Tampa
Nice but you know the saying: no picture, doesn't exist.
Gene Smith, 1993-2000. 7 years, 6 NCAA's, 1 bowl game. Revenue sports postseason participation 50%. Good. Bruce Vandevelde, 2000-20005. 5 years, 4 bowl games, 2 NCAA's, 2 NIT's. Postseason participation 80%. Better. Jamie Pollard, 2005-. 4 years. 1 bowl game, 0 NCAA's, 0 NIT's. Postseason participation: 13%. The next big step. My ignore list: splitidentity, tarheelhawk,superdorf, clones_jer. That is all. -

"Pics or shenanigans" is the phrase they always use on pbnation.com (paintball forum) -

Could have something to do with it being the home of Ed Droste (Hooters founder/ISU alum)

Didn't Rutgers do this a few years back?

Re: ISU Billboard in Tampa
The billboard is from Ed Droste, via Provident Management Corp. Ed is the Co-Founder of Hooters Restaurants and an ISU Alum. The billboard is right across the street from the very first Hooters and his other restaurant, Pete & Shorty's. Pete & Shorty's is where we have the Tampa Bay Official Game Watches.
If anyone lives or knows anyone that lives in the Tampa area please e-mail me for details on Game Watches.
Thanks,

Re: ISU Billboard in Tampa
Thats cool, I got a chance to talk with Ed Droste about a year ago, and in our conversation I brought up his involvement with ISU. He does a lot more than comes to eye for us, I wish he would fund the south endzone double decking totally, but thats a lot to ask. He had some things to do with the hiring of Coach Chizik actually and spoke with him a few times, so Ed is a really cool guy. He said he only makes it up for games every year or 2 with his folks.
