Angry Disappointed with a few fans @ SDSU game

I live in Brookings for work, and I've been hearing bad things about our fans all week from SDSU fans who travelled to the game.

I'd like to thank our tailgating fans because the SDSU fans felt welcomed and enjoyed their time before the game started... but after kickoff, apparently there were many obnoxious ISU fans cursing at SDSU fans, telling them to go back home and they suck. I know this doesn't apply to most of the people here... the people I'm talking about know who they are... and all I have to say is way to show some class guys and way to represent ISU... when we're winning as much as we were... it's really not that cool guys.

Don't tell other people to go home when they've clearly been invited by our athletic department to come here and play us. They're supporting our atheltics by buying tickets (please tell me if you have a list of ISU fans waiting to get into that game but there were no tickets left).

If you sit by our opponents at future games, please be respectful and represent our fanbase and not your own drunken self... or just don't show up.

I know 99% of our fans are like the ones tailgating that were offering beers and having friendly conversation... why does that 1% have to sit next to our opponents at the game?

I'm sorry, but no matter where in the country you go, there are always going to be ******** fans. I though you're on the wrong site to be finding them however. Not trying to be a jerk just simply stating something rather obvious.

I wish I knew what I typed that got ********.

I remember you telling me this over the weekend dbronco....from where I was, ISU fans pretty much ignored the SDSU fans, but I also left the game a few minutes early. Hopefully we are nicer to Kent State fans!

I'm guessing some of them are so pathetic, they choose to sit in that location knowing they'll be able to pick fights with the other team.

Some good ribbing back and forth is fun and part of healthy competition. Going over the top isn't - but these rejects exist in all fan bases - ours is certainly no exception.

Amazing isnt it? How so few can ruin the good impression the rest of us try to leave in any fan base. Those type of people fail in every aspect of their life.

Harriet Michaels: Do you actually like haggis?
Charlie Mackenzie: No, I think it's repellent in every way. In fact, I think most Scottish cuisine is based on a dare.

This was a downer to my morning. C'mon guys, I generally take pride in being apart of the Cyclone fanbase. We're not arrogant, ignorant, or obnoxious fans (at least most of us) like other schools. I hate to hear things like this. Represent the university and our fanbase with pride and be respectful.

Every yard for ISU!

If you go to an away game you should expect to hear SOME bad mouthing from opposing fans. That is just the way it is. To expect anything else is dumb. The SDSU fans I saw seemed like nice folks having a good time. I didn't see anyone give them a hard time other than good natured ribbing.

Hell, we ribbed some of our own fans pretty good that showed up in G7 last week that were from South Dakota. They took it quite well.

It is silly. I will say that I ran into some SDSU fans trying to instigate things as well, although I stayed out of it. I certainly don't feel bad for the SDSU fans though.

When you go to a game, you're likely to run into a couple of bad apples.

Each fan base has the fringe 'loonies' that feel the need to go over the top. Happens everywhere...from the NFL to College to High School.

You are speaking to choir here.....but the dark underbelly will never go away.

beer = the dark side.

On a different but related note, my daughter, an ISU student was sitting in the lower student section. The students in the upper section were spitting and throwing ketchup/mustard soaked hot dog buns into the student section below. I've never heard of that before and was outraged. Is that the kind of students we have coming to the games?

I told her if it happens again to call me and I'll bring my group of friends and some ushers and get them kicked out of - hopefully banned - from the stadium.

ISU fans are the greatest in the world. All they ask for is hope and the belief that we have a chance to win every time we step on the field - Johnny Majors (paraphrased)

Why not just round your posse up and go punch people in the throat? That is what the cool kids are doing these days...

That is really disgusting! I have a friend that would be sitting in the upper deck. At least I know that he's not going to engage in that sort of junk.

I'm really sorry your daughter had to have that experience. I think you're going about this the right way.

I sat up top, I didn't see that, but I saw people throwing frisbees down and hitting people in the face... I thought that was kinda mean and actually a little dangerous!
