Yes or No...Can you smoke behind the concessions on the West concourse?

I thought with the new rules in place there was no smoking allowed anywhere within the gates of the stadium? Is this not the case? At halftime of the SDSU game there were plenty of folks lighting them up back by the hillside on the West side of the stadium.

I was there and a couple police officers came by and told them it wasn't allowed.

Is Iowa State a smoke free campus now like u of I?

U of I is a smoke free campus which means no smoking anywhere on campus including parking lots. That would be pretty tough to enforce on gameday.

The guys I saw never had anything said to them. They need to hang some signs so folks don't think it is ok to smoke there.

No, it is a smoke free campus because it is state property and you can't smoke on state property in Iowa.

They know its not allowed, but people are going to continue doing it anyway because the law is not going to be enforced. Hence making it somewhat worthless.

Well now that I know it's not allowed, I won't be shy about telling someone to not smoke that I see doing it. Last game I kept my mouth shut because I wasn't entirely sure, but I suspected they weren't supposed to be doing it. Next game they'll hear from me if they light one up next to me while I'm back there.

Not trying to be a dick, but I generally make some phone calls at halftime and do not enjoy getting pummeled by smoke while doing so.

Basically you can only smoke along the roads that are bordering campus. EH&S (Environmental Health and Safety) was supposedly out writing tickets at the last game. The police won't write the tickets, the most they will do is collect info and pass it on to the Health Dept. Usually a person will just be told that they can't smoke there.

How about you go make your phone call upwind from these gentlemen who are smoking? Or do you feel its your job to police and control others' activities which you don't approve of? Or are you just one of those people who spends their life looking for an excuse to tell others what to do?

So I will probably ***** and moan if I see you on the cell phone, so you know what it feels like to have someone ******** about what personal activities you are doing.

I feel I have just as much right to control the activities you partake in while at games as you have to control whether or not some Cyclone fans smoke at halftime. I have no right to tell you what to do, and you also have no right to go around telling others' what to do.

When cell phones are not allowed within the confines of Jack Trice, I will gladly follow the rules. Until then, only smoking is not allowed so I definitely will say something if I am standing somewhere and someone comes and stands next to me and lights a cigarette. Simple as that. Follow the rules instead of ******** about them....how's that for an idea?

The smokers came and stood next to me after I was already there. I will not go stand next to one to cause a problem, but if I am somewhere and a guy comes and lights one up next to me...he is gonna hear about it.

Follow the rules people....it's the damn law.
