Too early to talk about whether or not it will rain on Saturday. Ask again Thursday or even Friday for that matter.

I worry more about Bates in the wind than the rain, his ball has been pretty wobbly.

Re: Rain in the forecast for Saturday
I think it will hurt/help both teams.
we will bring out our short passing game, with underneaths (like last year).
It will require more of a running game (even more than before) for a team to win (Iowas favor)

Forecast shows plenty of opportunities for it.
Back in the day, our coach saw rain in the forecast for an upcoming big game. That week in 2 separate practices, the ball was repeatedly dunked in a bucket of water or hosed down during practice. Rained like hell that game - we lost just one fumble and did well passing the ball. The other team turned it over 5 times.

Re: Rain in the forecast for Saturday
Rain usually affects the passing game far more than the running game.
iowa's o-line is probably better than ours, and I'm certain their d-line is. And given our poor running thusfar , they already have an advantage in my book.
But I have to think we have a better passing game. Certainly they have some good receivers, but I have to think we have more. And I'll definitely give the nod to our two QBs versus theirs. And that's where the rain will probably be the biggest factor.
Have to say rain helps iowa.

funny things is....this game the last 10 years never turns out the way I think it will beforehand.
Rivalry games are so hard to predict...

Um I don't know what you guys are talking about but on accuweather it says Saturday is supposed to be sunny and 80. Where is this rain talk coming from?

Re: Rain in the forecast for Saturday
Big advantage to Iowa IMO. In order for us to light up the scoreboard like we are capable we need to go 4 wide the entire game and wing the ball around the field and abandon the running game.

We need to establish the run first especially if A-Rob is back. You will never win games by abandoning the run.

Re: Rain in the forecast for Saturday
*Sorry, not completely but use the pass to set up the run. Our O-line is going to get it done running out of the I this season.

I disagree with this, we need to pass it around to set up the run. We don't have the personnel to run it down people's throats. If we can throw it around, get their line thinking pass and have their linebackers out on coverage it will make it much easier to run.

If this is what we have to do then Arnaud should play the majority of the game. I am a Bates supporter but right now I don't trust him to be able to fling it around with out making mistakes. I still think that with Robinson back, our running game will be much different than it was on Saturday.
