We already know EIU will have the ball first as they always take the ball when they win the coin toss and every other college football team in America defers when they win the coin toss. If they get a touchdown on the opening drive it will relieve the pressure from Stanzi and we may be in for a long day. If we can come up with a 3 and out or a turnover that would be huge for us. Go Cyclones!
Well, that's kind of a relief to me then, because IIRC, South Dakota State scared you too - and look what we did to them

    From Hawkmania.com:

Reading between the lines on Iowa QBs
IOWA CITY — The Iowa football players have been very careful, very political, about what they’ve said when asked about the quarterback competition waged between Ricky Stanzi and Jake Christensen. They have been very complimentary toward both players and haven’t openly shown any favoritism.

Correct. Please edit so there's the first few lines showing, plus a link to the full article.

    Thanks.

    Re: Ricky Stanzi

The thing DJK said about right or left hand quarterbacks having different spin is true. We found that out in High School when our starter was a lefty and the backup was right handed.

    Re: Ricky Stanzi

Well i watched the SDSU game and their D-line did a good job of getting pressure. I just think this game is going to be won in the trenches. Whichever O line can withstand the blitzes and also blow the opposing DLINE off the ball. If it is wet and slippery, I hate to say it but Iowa has the advantage. Their running game is very strong.

Both teams opponents are terrible, I am not going to lie. SDSU, Kent State, FIU, Maine are all terrible. I would seriously put money says that they all only win maybe 1 or 2 games. SDSU will be mediocre in the Mo Valley. Kent state will be okay, FIU Will not win a game, and Maine will be average in the Colonial. So pretty much the game comes down to execution and who wants it more. I am much more worried about this game!

Ricky is QBing the hawks right now on the Big10 Network in a classic vs Indiana in 1988. (Oh that's right they say he's the next Chuck Long not Hartlieb.)
