It's a "safety" rule there to prevent hits just like the one that happened today. It's a little different story with RBs, since they are seldom hitting at full speed.
LJ just teed off on Moeaki. He could easily have seriously injured either one or both of them. If you look at the serious injuries over the last 20 years or so of football, it's hits just like LJ's, not some RB rumbling over someone.
Moeaki was the one who lowered his head. If you watched the replay from the backside, you can easily see where LJ turned his head at the last second and led with the shoulder. The facts that Moeaki had his head down and was several inches taller led to the incident. It was a BS call.
I don't care if his head was down his shoulder pads hit him.
I may be in the minority but I liked the hit by Singleton on the punt, just wish it would have been harder.
After the hit by Singleton on Brodell, you should have heard the homers behind me whining. They all thought he should have been thrown out of the game. I smiled and said "Hey, what are you complaining about, you just got 15 yards." Then they wanted to fight.
I noticed later we punted back to Brodell again, hoping he'd hear foot steps. Unfortunately, that was the one he ran back for a TD.
I don't know why you're laughing, this will be the same field goal kicker beating you for the next three years. 10 years under Ferentz, and the only advantage you have is special teams. If I was Iowa, I'd get rid of him and start fresh, because things aren't going to get any better for you with him and his 3 mil a year salary.
