I agree. I think we are better than we showed today. We just need to get communication straightened out and beef up our run defense, and we should be okay.

I feel it's important to call the coaching staff on the carpet for some bad management.
We had two red-zone opportunities screwed up because we can't get a play in. And after we're forced to call a time-out, we still can't execute the play.
Also, the final drive, where we had 3rd-2 inside the 10 and we screwed up the play calling.
Finally, the kicking game & special teams needs big improvement. We had two bobbled snaps on FG attempts. And we give up an 81-yd punt return.
Oh, and does anybody else think that the Big10's coverage was horrible? I could have swore I was listening to Dolphin, and I think I heard Zabel propose a toast at one point in the broadcast.
I'm embarrassed at our complete inability to tackle anyone when it counts. And not being able to finish in the red zone is inexcusable. There's never a reason to come away with no points in the red zone.
I am going to apply the 'ole "Two Steps Forward, One Step Back" mentality to this game. We had our opportunities and didn't take advantage. Remember, we are playing a lot of freshmen and sophomores out there.
Pretty much the whole team had a below average game, especially including the coaches from a offensive playcalling standpoint, but I am very confident a game like this can help a team to focus in the coming weeks.
Let's shore things up for next week and get through non-conference 3-1...now that would be pretty damn good in year two with this young team, no?
Honestly, we looked like what we were - a young team.
We still have problems in the red zone. Gotta fix that.
Missing the field goals was disappointing.
I was surprised by the running game in the first half. If that line is half as good as they were supposed to be, that's disappointing for Hawk fans, and encouraging for us.
Nice pass protection, for the most part. Having mobile QBs helps a bit in this regard.
I'm still very disappointed with our tackling. LJ likes to hit hard, but he doesn't apparently like to tackle. Stop hitting people, and start stopping people.
All in all, disappointing, but there is plenty of "good" to take from the game as well as "bad". Now we gotta get pumped up to play a decent UNLV team, and hopefully go into a 3-1 matchup with Kansas.
Can we shorten the coaches commercial to just the last five second of "Peeennnnn Staaaaaateeeee" ?
I expected some not all hawk homering on the L11 network. Once again ISU needs to finish and keep drives going somehow. I dont understand how they can look so good for 5 or 6 plays then look so bad on the next 3.
Until ISU gets better special teams play esp punt and kickoff coverage which were both poor ...esp with bad and I mean real bad tackling things arent gonna get any better...NOT to mention FIELD GOAL KICKING!!!!
