I had 6 at the beginning of the year not counting Iowa either. 3-1 in non conference, and 3 in the big 12. I know we have to learn to play on the road but which team as young as we are wouldn't have issues their 1st time on the road. I expect a rebound this coming weekend with a win over a tough UNLV team. Then like people have said with possibilities over Colorado, Nebraska, Baylor, A&M, K-State, if we didn't get to 6 I would be a bit disappointed. Our offense is still potent with all of the weapons to stick in most days, we just picked a bad day to lay an egg against Iowa.
I think we still can get 6-7, but now leaning more toward the 6. Wouldn't be surprised at 5. At 4 I would be a little disappointed, mainly because of the 12 game schedule now.
The sky is falling already? We're playing 11 or 12 true freshman. We haven't won on the road since '05. '09 and '10 are the years this team will be dangerous. Anyone thinking we were going to go 3-1 or 4-0 to start this year are nuts. I only had us winning the first two, a big maybe on splitting the final two non conf. games. I still say we win 5 this year.
I'll lay it out there for all of you by percentages:
2 wins only - 3%
3 wins - 10%
4 wins - 32%
5 wins - 40%
6 wins - 10%
7 wins - 4%
8 or above - 1%
If we get out of Vegas with a W of any kind we should consider ourself lucky IMO. They will be hyped for this game and we will need to get our heads out of our butts.
I hope we go back to the no huddle because I think we can put big points up on them that way. I think Chiz is afraid to do that on the road though as he wants to control the clock more on the road.
I said 6 - 7 wins at the start of the season. My 7th was Iowa - so now I'm saying 6.
3, 4 if we get lucky
I predicted 2-2 non-conference and 2 wins in conference for 4-8 before the season started. Here's hoping I am way wrong. Nonetheless, it doesn't dampen my excitement for the rest of the season. I have already been through a lot of downs in my decade as a Cyclone season ticket holder.
Wow.... 3 or 4 wins.... And thats with 2 already. What were you saying last year after going 1-3 in non-conference??
5 wins seemed right from the beginning. Maybe 6. Either way, young team, needing improvement, I didn't see a major bowl game this year.
Now... Seriously.... I love this sky is falling crap. Very fun to read. I love the Dan McCarney comments. Yeah maybe we would of won the game, but we would of laid an egg the rest of the year. Exactly what I want to see.... Get up for one game and die a slow death down the stretch.
5 wins, I'm sticking with it. Until we shore up our tackling, 5 wins.
We missed too many throws, dropped key pass', field goals killed us. I thought our coaching staff plays a part of this loss also.
But hey, we're better than last year and love the fight in this team.
For the record, I do not believe the sky is falling. I saw 4, maybe 5 wins before season, and I still see the same thing now.
