Are you Cyclone fans or just pretenders?

I think it's about time to call some people on the carpet here for comments made. We lose one game and we have people going Hawkeye fan and talking about how we may not win another game? Are we going to have people start booing our players now too?

Yes in the past we have really stunk it up on the field but we are upgrading our facilities, hired a great new head coach who went out and hired a quality staff, we are bringing in some very talented young players, etc... Our coaches and players don't care about the past and they believe that they are winners and so does our athletic department. I can't understand why some of you on here can't get on board? Jim Walden isn't the coach here anymore and we don't have that crummy old astroturf either. Things are changing and this program is on the rise but some of you seem to be stuck in the past. Questioning whether ISU would even beat South Dakota State? Are you freaking kidding me?

We lost to Iowa. BIG FREAKING DEAL PEOPLE!!!!!! Did we lose cause we were outplayed? No. Did we lose cause they had more talent then we did? No. Did we lose because over a decade ago we just weren't very good at football? NO!! We didn't do the little things, coaching mistakes, execution mistakes, etc... Remember that we have a great coach who is still learning how to manage the games through his coordinators and under those conditions it probably isn't the easiest but it's no excuse. They will learn from it and we will be better for it.

Now is not the time to backpedal on the Clones because I for one think that we have one hell of a good football team. Cut the doom and gloom BS people and throw your support behind the Clones and start believing because WE CAN DO IT!!!! (Queue up the Journey song.... "Don't stop believing")

Anyone that focuses on one game or one rival team, kind of falls in the pretender list.

If Iowa losing is about as good as a Cyclone win, a loss by the Hawks makes a loss by the Cyclones better, if losing to the Hawks ruins your season or if beating the Hawks (regardless of other games) makes your year....

Yeah - yer kind of a pretender. :)

We are not going to beat Iowa every single year, just as they are no longer going to dominate us. Accept it and move on to the next week.

Amen! We have so many people on here lately that are PC to all the visiting fans or who knows what. They predict that we will lose to every mediocre program on our schedule like it is just because we are ISU. We have recruits coaches and the like reading these boards and no I am not saying we should act like we should win every game by 50, but we can at least show some optimism and like ISU fans expect more. I agree that if the attitude of the fans doesn't also change we will not get to that next level. It isn't just show me a big win and then I'll get confidence that this team can do something. Use your head and look at all that is being changed around us and see that even though UNLV beat an ASU team, we can still expect to win this game this weekend because this team is tough.

I gotta say, I go to as many games as I can, and I cheer loudly. I support my team by buying tickets and merchandise.

What does my attitude have to do with the players/coaches winning the game?

If this board is filled with doom and gloom talking like SDSU is going to give us a run for our money you can not see how a few recruits checking us out won't be overly thrilled with coming to that type of environment. A player reading on here that most people expect them to lose to UNLV including a few dumb posters on here won't affect them in even a small way?

I am a pretender I guess...I spent 5 years of my life busting my butt for Iowa State University, so if being mad about losing to the team I HATE most makes me a pretender then thats me.

It's embarrassing to read posts from people on here who think that we can't even beat a team like South Dakota State. How many people predicted we would lose to Iowa? It isn't because they thought that coaching mistakes would do us in but because they just don't think this team is talented enough to hang with Iowa. Newsflash.... we are good enough. It irritates me that people are all doom and gloom now. How pathetic. Maybe we should just mark 9 more losses down on the schedule and forfeit the games? Agreed. It is a rivalry again. 15 straight wins does not make it a rivalry - just a beat-down. Evenly matched teams playing hard ball makes it a rivalry. Fans getting excited for their teams makes it a rivalry.

Beating Iowa is fun, but not the ultimate destination for our team. Much like the pukes probably don't think beating the Clones makes their season complete.
