How does EIU spend $70 million to upgrade Kinnick stadium and end up with that Middle School turf field that doesn't drain water? What a joke of a Division I venue.
I'm thinking maybe the massive flooding this summer might have played into the draining system. Like clogging it up or something. Just a guess. I'm sure most stadiums would have problems if they had that much water in one year.
Not trying to defend the place. In my opinion it's still a steamy pile of poop. Small seats, steep steps, people kneeing you in the back, people squeezing you in as much as possible.
I have been to atleast 10 games there in the last 6 years and I have never been impressed. My wife has been to to 1 and she thinks the place is absolute garbage. Can't argue that..
the guys on the BTN said that there was no drainage system for the field and that the grounds crew couldn't remember the last time it rained during a game in Kinnick. I find it hard to believe that they spend that kind of cash to fix the stadium and didn't at least spend some for a drainage system.
