He said other times it was players not being close enough to the coaches and trouble getting the right personnel in the game...
Anyone here doubt, given the drive to succeed that it APPEARS our coaches have, they won't move mountain and earth to fix these problems?
I don't think we need to move mountain and earth...
Just look at the play clock.

In other words, they were basically using ISU as a fallback school and to improve their recruiting position.
Yeah, this is my understanding, too. But, I asked Gene the question to get a definitive explanation directly from him to remove any speculation. Didn't get the detailed answer I was hoping for; not that he avoided the answer, not at all, but sometimes follow-up questions are needed to clarify a subject.

Amen! More power to 'em!

I don't know that I'd call it BS. I mean, you KNOW that coaches give big-time recruits a little more leeway. At least Chizik was honest about it. How bad would we be if Chizik cut every guy loose that talked to another team?

Well then you don't have the policy.
I guess to me that's like saying that everybody has to run lines except player X, because he's better than the rest.
Doesn't do much for team cohesion. And if he's doing it on the recruiting trail and before they ever step foot on campus, what's going to happen when it's a key player who gets into trouble?
Sorry - to each their own. But I don't like it one bit and hope it's more of the aforementioned "they already had visits scheduled" reasoning.
Re: Chizik's Monday radio call-in show
I'd put it more into the category of "Where does the 500 lb gorilla play?" Answer? Anywhere he wants to.
Seriously. There's a difference between if a player says, "I commit", then up and goes on another visit, and one that says "I commit", then has the respect to call GC and talk it over first. I'm not going to speculate as to what the content of that conversation might involve, but I have a strange feeling that this is one instance where asking forgiveness isn't easier than asking permission.

On the check with me thing, I was really waiting for the Clones to sometime just go up to the line and go on a quick count, and catch the other team off guard, waiting for the check.

It's early. I'm sure we'll see something like this.
