2nd half team: We have a shot at beating a lot of teams that we probably shouldn't beat.
You can't play 1 half of decent football and expect to beat any of those teams.Quote:
we are good enough to beat baylor, nebraska, colorado, texas A&M, oklahoma state, and kansas state but it will be a tough chore to get 4 of them
But, it seems there will be no ends to those that believe it's not a big deal, we shouldn't be so hard on guys like LJ, etc.
It's crap. I don't care if they're 18 or 23. Every coach I've been around doesn't tolerate this kind of stuff - some are more strict on it than others. But avoiding dumb personal foul penalties is a part of football at every level. So the "he's a freshman" point holds zero water - this isn't his first year of playing football folks. He knows better and in the unlikely event he doesn't - absolutely no way he belongs on the field until he does know better.
He's not the only one - but has certainly been the worst.
Sitting in front of my computer or being able to hit the strip and drown my sorrows... I wish I was hitting my strip
Just saw the score...glad we came back, but this sucks.
Maybe worse news: It's two weeks until Kansas.
I"d like to see some better blocking by our backs not named Scales.
I like having A-Rob and Bass as a 1-2 punch running the ball, but I saw them whiff on more than a couple blocks, and you have to have that help to keep the passing game going.
What I'm coming away with after this loss:
1. If Chris Singleton never plays another minute for the Cyclones I won't be all that disappointed. Those two personal fouls were straight bush and I don't like that.
2. Arnaud's definitely the man, but he's gotta learn how to control his adrenaline. The guy continuously overshot his receivers, but man does that guy have a cannon. I could have sworn that rocket to Sumrall was picked off, but instead Sumrall continues stumbling to the end zone.
3. This team is growing up before our eyes. That second half was an outstanding comeback.
4. The entire month of October is huge for this team. We have Kansas, Nebraska, and Texas A&M at home and Baylor on the road. Think about that - 3 of our next 4 are at home, and the 4th is on the road at the worst team in the conference. Could be the month we make a statement.
2 of 14 on 3rd down is a very telling stat. We were only 4 of 15 last weekend on 3rd down. 6 of 14 against Kent State and then a decent 6 of 12 against SDSU.
On the season, we are 18 of 55. Not very good.
I'm still not sure what to say about this game. ONe thing I know for sure, UNLV might have some of the most classless fans I've ever seen.
