At any rate - go get 'em LJ. Make some plays and hit 'em hard - legally.
Oct. 4th can't get here soon enough, because it's been over a month since I've been in JTS watching a game (didn't get to attend Kent State) and I hate bye weeks (from the fan perspective).

So do I still think the hit was unnecessary/illegal/bush? Absolutely. Do I think if he doesn't shape up and start playing clean football he should walk? Absolutely. If I were coach would he be sitting for the Kansas game? Absolutely. However, Chizik's the coach, and he knows a lot more about handling football personnel than I. If he thinks LJ's done enough to warrant at the very least seeing the KU game from the sidelines in full uni, then I'll defer to his judgment.

It's crap. I don't care if they're 18 or 23. Every coach I've been around doesn't tolerate this kind of stuff - some are more strict on it than others. But avoiding dumb personal foul penalties is a part of football at every level. So the "he's a freshman" point holds zero water - this isn't his first year of playing football folks. He knows better and in the unlikely event he doesn't - absolutely no way he belongs on the field until he does know better.
He's not the only one - but has certainly been the worst. Originally Posted by ISUFan22 The hit in the end zone was anything but aggressive...but all about frustration/stupidity. Originally Posted by ISUFan22 Ejected. GOOD.

I know you're supposedly the inside source on ISU FB here, but you're wrong on this.
Aggressive, motivated play <> cheap shots.
Completely classless - no other way about it. I could probably continue.

I would have just preferred a bigger message be sent and for him to sit another game. However, that same message may still have been sent - just not as publicly as many of us would prefer. I would agree here. The lack of public knowledge of an incident doesn't mean discipline wasn't taken, but I do feel sitting out a game would send a good message. Obviously I'm not the coach and this situation is none of my concern beyond hoping that all players going forward conduct themselves better on the field than what they've been.

Cute that you went and found a bunch of my posts though.

Re: Chizik confirms LJ will play vs Kansas
I don't know if I'd consider any of that to "wanting him on a skewer". At the least, it's not the same as those who wanted him done for the season or off the team altogether. Most of what he said there is opinion on what happened, and not the punishment that should ensue. An fwiw, I agree with much of the opinion.
I wanted him to sit a game as well. And mine wasn't so much emotion/heat of the moment based, as I didn't see much of the game. I don't think a game is out of order for what he's been doing.
But I will admit that I have changed my mind - and in no small part because of LJ's actions and apologies this past week. He has shown that he understands his mistakes and the consequences. And that's not something you see from athletes very often. It shows alot about the character of the young man and It went a long way in my book.
I think it also shows alot about the character of the coach and what he expects to instill in the program.
Edit: I guess I shouldn't say I "wanted" him to sit a game. I thought it was mandated and was ok with that punishment. As in - if he had to sit for that helmet to helmet call, I would've gone ballastic. But the 1 game seemed appropriate, and now after what's transpired the last few days, I'm ok with him playing. And fwiw, I don't usually think suspending for a game really serves much good. Seems to me that it hurts the team more than anything else. His punishment, whatever it might be, should some Sunday-Friday.

At least that's how I took them.
I think your picking at something that for one, isn't there and two, doesn't even matter.

Kinda creepy too... Ha, you said how he should be out for minimum of one game. And how his actions weren't aggressive but stupid. And how him being young isn't an excuse. Maybe you said all that with a smile? Just admit it, you were leader of the train to make an example out of LJ last weekend. I was right with you, and still am...or was? Now you're apparently content with his apology, which was nice, and possible undisclosed disciplinary actions that we don't even know of?

It's all in the tubes. Also easier to find because you continued your rant across multiple threads.

Again, none of that involved serving him up on a skewer or whatever analogy is convenient for you at the time.
I still would like to see him sit for this game. Did I not post that earlier today? Or is reading/comprehension still difficult for you?

Spin away, I care not. I know what I said before and what I'm saying today. My opinion has not changed - I'm just not going to belabor the point.
