I hate to say it, but I don't think we can "stop" them...but a smart pass rush and good tackling will slow them down...

Execute . . play with emotion . . and don't let the QB sit in the pocket and pass.

Pressure football. KU is better, plain and simple. Try forcing mistakes....blitz them from all different angles. Stunt, play tight man to man defense. Keep the crowd in the game by playing exciting defense.
On offense, take chances down the field. Arnaud has the arm...let him use it. Mix in some trick plays, fake field goal, punt. Sneak Bates in a two backfield set along with Robinson. Make them adjust to you, not vice versa
Try taking the game to them. If you lose, don't lose due to fear.

At least we wont get beat by them having their ex starting QB as their top WR and his Mitch King like golden locks. That guy, Meier(he cant even spell his name right), was dangerous.
Maybe we can have our 6'5" Olineman play Dline and they can knock down tiny little Reesling's passes.

My point, is that right now Bass needs to see more time than any of our other backs. Love your idea about Bates and Arnaud both back there.

However, our current coaching staff is much like the former one in that they don't seem to be willing to think outside of the box. Seems like they want to run a much more conventional offense.

I agree with this too. At the very least, we have to keep'em honest by stretching the field. I mentioned in a separate thread that I really think we have a lot of good options at the receiver/tight end spots and Arnaud's got a cannon for an arm - let's use it!.......yes, I think we should run too, but we can't waste the whole first half trying to establish something that's just not there.

We have been suspect to the pass, so that's probably your best shot. Our starting corner should be back and we really need him. The three freshmen that have been taking turns playing his spot have been torched the last couple of games. KU hasn't played with the fire that Mangino teams usually play with. It will be interesting to see what KU looks like Saturday. After watching the games this weekend I think it's going to be a close game, parity has arrived in college football.

Well, we know you guys are gonna air it out, so there's also a big question of whether or not our young DB's can stay with your receivers or if our young DL can put some pressure on TR. It kind of sounds like the making of a shootout, but who knows? Good luck to you, but we need a win and Jack Trice will be rockin' - so I hope the Mighty Mangino's get a surprise next Saturday. | LET'S GO STATE!!! |

If we cannot stop them I guess we will have to keep up with them. Maybe our D will get a take away or 2 and score a few to help out. Throwing the ball that much there sure will be a few chances.
