Hopefully it won't feels like he did on Saturday.

Hopefully they abide by road signs that demand that they stop:

Re: How do we stop KU?

Offensively we need to find our running game. I hope to see Bass out there early - I was encouraged by the way he ran in the 2nd half of the UNLV game. I'd also like to see Arnaud take most of the snaps. Let the guy get into a rhythm.

Defensively we need to stop their running game, which means containing the outside (which we have not done well yet) and improved linebacker play on stuffing the middle.

I don't agree that we can't run against KU's defense. Our passing game is not good enough to carry us. The only way we've moved the ball well this year is when we've made them respect the run.

i think our running game may pick up if we start using bass as the feature back, and arob as a 3drb. when you have two above average backs, and you need to control the game, run them both early and go with who is on that day.

I am just hoping our bend don't break defense is extra flexible this weekend because honestly I don't see us stopping them too often. If we could limit them to a few field goals that would be great.

I agree it will be a rare occasion to stop them. So, we need to be turnover hungry, and ISU needs to control the game by keeping our offense on the field, and by limiting their big plays.

It's great to be a cyclone/peacock!

Control the clock with our offense!

Against USF, the DL was in the KU backfield all night. Either USF has supermen on the DL or KU's OL is suspect. A little of both I think.

I don't think we can blitz at all against them. I think we run 5 or 6 DBs all the time, using man more than zone. Keep everything in front of you and use a safety as the safety, not a blitzing corner.

Come up with a turnover or two more than we give, and keep the offense driving down field, we can win this thing.

Now that is how to tackle!

Sorry for leaving out the regulation part. You knew what I trying to say.

Can we somehow sabotage their transportation to Ames?

And I, Bruno, will dive 1,000 feet into a block of cement. On my head, yet!

Respectful KU fan here, and you're right about this. USF has 2 excellent DE's, but we're starting 2 redshirt freshmen at OT. They've struggled at both pass protection and run blocking. Luckily for us, Reesing is excellent at moving around the pocket while keeping his eyes downfield. . Our struggling running game has been blamed on everything from our WR's not blocking as well as last year to the OL, to our RB's running with a high pad level.

On D, we're pretty solid against the run, but we've given up chunks through the air. One reason is a returning starter at CB being injured (ISU will be his first game back), another is the lack of pressure that our front 4 are getting. For whatever reason, we don't blitz much, so if our front 4 aren't getting pressure, your QB will have time.

I think this will be a close game, closer than many of you seem to think. Also, Coach Mangino seems to coach a lot more conservatively on the road, he doesn't take a lot of chances. That tends to really limit KU's offense on the road, but he does it to limit turnovers. I look forward to a great game, and I'd be happy to answer any questions anyone might have about KU. Cheers!

I've only seen a bit of KU in the SHSU game, and most of the USF game (that was a tough way to lose). Is the lack of a running game the biggest concern on offense, or is it even a concern with Reesing playing like he is?

What do you think getting back Dexton Fields will mean for KU? Obviously, you haven't seemed to need a whole lot of help on the receiving side of things.

I'd love to see ISU pull out a W here, and I think the game will be fairly close - especially if KU comes in thinking it's last year all over again - but I still think KU is a step or two ahead of ISU at least on Offense, if not on Defense.

You mean we have unlimited juice?

Re: How do we stop KU?

Jumbo, the lack of a running game is a huge concern, especially with things getting tougher as league starts. The most alarming part is that it's not something that can be easily fixed. It's hard to imagine Reesing continuing to carry the team through league when defenses really key on him (and drop more guys in coverage) because the running game is no concern. Getting Dexton Fields back (by the way, his first collegiate reception was against you guys in the 2005 game, the TD that sent it into overtime) will help, but it won't be a huge change. His experience is needed with our WR's youth, and he is one of the best blocking WR's in the BXII (and our running game needs that), but he's not nearly as explosive as some of the guys who have filled in. Getting Harper back at CB, on the other hand, will be huge. He's a senior, and the kids we tried to fill his spot with while he was hurt struggled quite a lot. Between him coming off an injury and his replacements struggling, I imagine you guys will be picking on that side of the field. By the way, one of our biggest losses from last year is Bill Young, our former Defensive Coordinator who left for Miami. His replacement is talented, but Young is missed.

Re: How do we stop KU?

Actually beating KU is fairly simple. Injure Reesing and Meier in the first quarter to where they cannot return to the game and it is all over. Time to head for the parking lot and drink BEER! That or the Clones can not hurt this duo and wish upon a star that the Clone offense can put points on the board and KU gets bit real good by the turnover bug.

PS: Clones, go for choice #2. The Meier kid is a great guy on and off the field.
