We are probably second worst in the history of the Big8 and second worst in the history of the Big12. It stinks, but it is what it is. I am still a proud Cyclone, and support our teams with both my attendance and my money.
As for Husker boi, he can pound sand. The state of Nebraska is an ebarrassment, if winning results in us acting like them and making football the only thing that matters in life, more than family, friends, laws, well then I guess I am happy where we are.

My $0.02 on the debate: I think it depends on how you define it, and what is included. Baylor has been worse than us, record-wise, since the advent of the Big 12. K-State was worse than us, record-wise, in the Big 8 (even when you include their good years in the early- to mid-90's under Bill Snyder, which shows how historically awful they were).
However, both K-State (more recently) and Baylor (more distantly) have had stretches where they won conference titles and were perennially ranked. Other than a blip of time in the 70's and a couple of pretty decent teams in the early 2000's, Iowa State has never had a comparable stretch to anything that K-State or Baylor has done. So, if the criteria is "tradition" rather than hard numbers, I would reluctantly have to say that we have the least tradition in football of any team in the Big 12. We may not be the worst by numbers alone, but every other fan-base has more "glory years" in the program's past that they can point to than Iowa State does.

If last year didn't exist, we ( KU) would be the worst in Big 12 history. And with last years success we still haven't even won the North outright in the history of the conference.

yes, we are the worst...why do you think some of the other teams want to kick us out of the Big 12?

I prefer to look at things since the advent of the B12. Baylor hasn't been to a bowl since the start of the Big 12, while ISU has been to five. Yeah, they were good back in the day, but that is distant history. KU and Mizzou have been bad, but this last year changed things. Basically, ISU had their shot a few years ago and blew it.
Just watch, this is a total Jon Miller subject (especially coming off of a hokeye loss). I can just hear it... "Sorry Clone fans, but you're the worst team ever in the history of the Big XII, just a fact. I hate to be the one to tell it to you". Yeah, I'm sure he really hates it. BTW, with Minnesota's past success, you could probably argue that iowa is at the very bottom of their conference as well.

While some of the more obnoxious Iowa fans we've all no doubt met would think more highly of the team's tradition than it actually deserves, they're far from the bottom of the Big Ten. They're easily better than either Northwestern or Indiana historically. They have more conference titles than Michigan State or Purdue and the same number as Wisconsin. They're certainly no Ohio State or Michigan, but they're certainly not the worst-ever in the Big Ten.

I should've given some context to the conversation.
It was more based on the teams that have been in the Big 8 and Big 12 and who has the fewest accomplishments, rather than overall record.
BTW, he wasn't being a turd about it, just pointing out what apparently everyone but me already was aware of.

That we hadn't won a conference title since 1912? Well, at least the Cubs have us beat.

Being the worst of all time can have positive side affects.
#1 I'm only surprised when the team does good. Anything over a .500 record and we are stoked. Teams Like Texas have to have at least 9 wins every season otherwise they are disappointed.
#2 We feel good about going places like Houston and Shreveport. I have to think we have a better reputation at the places since we're all in a good mood.
#3 We know that everyone that wears ISU gear is a real fan. I've never heard of an ISU bandwagon fan since there is no wagon to jump on to.

If it is all sports, Baylor may be redeemed by their baseball team, but we have some great accomplishments in WBB and MBB.
