2fers there was a good deal.

Re: Is People's Bar Coming back to Ames?
Yeah, I heard about Mothers. It is like a "People's" based bar. I also heard that Sgt. Peppers is a cool bar too...not to big, but a neat bar. They play old tunes which I love like: The Beatles, Rolling Stones...classics... I guess it is just a trendy place for the current students to go to...
But basically, I miss the old watering hole after the games now. It would be sweet if they could just get People's back to where it was before....

Re: Is People's Bar Coming back to Ames?
I specifically remember the "Let's go North, all the way to Lincoln Way!" chant at ISU football during the 90's. I also remember leading the Hokey Pokey during halftime. Those were good times.
"You put your junk in, you put your junk out!"
Oh yeah. We went there.

People's was alright. I liked it for buck burgers. Cy's Roost was my bar.

Duggans Deli (or the place I'm thinking of) was over on West St. I think it's an office or soemthing now. They shut down there in '93, I think.
Lost and Found Lounge was above Cy's Roost. Did it move out of there when Cy's shut down? It was there forever, it seems.
And La Boheme was out on Lincoln way just a door or two down from Welch - when I was there in circa '93-'94. If you had a band that played there, it can't be the same place.

Duggan's Deli was indeed at 2900 West St. (West St. and Campus Ave.) You can still see some outlines of faded signage on the building when the sun is right. It may have been Tork's Pub before that.
Boheme was in that location for several years in the late 90s and early 00s, and now it's Mother's.
Thumbs is nestled into a small spot by West Street Deli.

Thumbs is nestled into a small spot by West Street Deli. I thought the chant was all the way to Thumbs.

Thumbs is nestled into a small spot by West Street Deli. Yeah, obviously two different places - the La Boheme I'm thinking of was on Lincoln Way. My Business Communcations prof favored it, and she had meetings with students scheduled there.
That's the ONLY way I know of it. It was more of a cafe/coffee house type place. Again, that was '93-'94.
Amazing how much stuff changes.
Is Lost and Found gone/moved? I haven't been to Campustown in ages. I was shocked last fall to learn the McD's was gone.

On the other side of that is a place called Capone's, which is formerly MoJazz. I've heard that that place has a People's type environment. Maybe not big enough for bands, but they do have some live music.
Lost and Found is still there above Cy's. Unfortunately, they kind of ruined the atmosphere of both places with the remodel probably 5 years ago. The old Cy's was run down, but it had character. Now it is just dingy. The old L&F was a dark hole in the wall that played weird music and was good for foosball and crazy strong drinks (Zombie). Now it is stuffed with couches and really lost its atmosphere.

Re: Is People's Bar Coming back to Ames?
I have actually been to Capone's. It was really a lot like People's...honestly. I went there during VEISHEA this past spring. Good time. They completly renovated the old hole that was Mo-Jazz.... So, it is good that they have that nice bar there.
I'm telling ya, this thread is going to get more people out to the bars after the games this fall....really good time, especially on Homecoming.

Re: Is People's Bar Coming back to Ames?
I hadn't thought about the McD's in forever. I was so mad when it closed. Then I realized there was much better food to be had on Welch, even late!
