His other offers are pretty impressive company. Quite a coup if we could steal him away.

Re: West Virginia commit taking a visit to ISU
Didn't Chizik revoke a scholarship offer from a guy last year who made a visit to another school after he committed to ISU?
Gene Smith, 1993-2000. 7 years, 6 NCAA's, 1 bowl game. Revenue sports postseason participation 50%. Good. Bruce Vandevelde, 2000-20005. 5 years, 4 bowl games, 2 NCAA's, 2 NIT's. Postseason participation 80%. Better. Jamie Pollard, 2005-. 4 years. 1 bowl game, 0 NCAA's, 0 NIT's. Postseason participation: 13%. The next big step. Daquan says Iowa State has also been very clear on why they have so much interest in him. "Coach Boulware was saying that they really like my speed. I was recently timed at 4.29 in the forty," said Hargrett. "He said that they need a change of pace back and that I could possibly play as a true freshman."
I know this is the recruiting game but did this paragraph surprise anyone else? I am all for the best man playing each season and love that the staff does not seem to shy away from recruiting over any of our current talent, just wonder if that will ever come back to hurt us.

Re: West Virginia commit taking a visit to ISU
as long as the visits are already set up once the player commits, most coaches wont "object" to a player taking visits. They just dont want to be blindsided by a team coming out of the blue.

No its called competition, which happens to keep everyone on their toes and working harder. Keeping your job is much more difficult these days, which i am a fan of, if your not good enough. Move out of the way or start working harder to get better in the off-season.
NHL teams need to be added to the favorite teams section. -
Re: West Virginia commit taking a visit to ISU
The "change of pace back" would be nice, as is a legit 4.3 forty.

Re: West Virginia commit taking a visit to ISU
How come about 100 recruits run sub 4.3 forty times, but at the NFL combine.... barely any guys do? -

Re: West Virginia commit taking a visit to ISU
Watching a few of his highlights, it looks like he can stop on a dime and turn the speed right back on. They said he played in a passing offense last year, but will have the spotlight this year. Lets hope we can land him. Looks like he'd work well in a true spread offense. http://insider.espn.go.com/ncf/recru...6season%3d2009

i dont know how i feel about this. the last thing i want is for our coaching staff to be hypocritical. im not saying they are, but it looks strange that they are bringing in these recruits that have already verballed to other schools. meanwhile, if one of our verbals takes a visit to another school, we pull his offer saying youre either 100% committed or your not at all. does this seem like a double standard to anyone else?

Some schools accept verbal "commitments" with the knowledge that the student will still listen to other coaches. I know this version of "commitment" is a little off, but it just depends on their policy. Our staff will not accept verbals until the student is ready to completely close their recruitment....I don't know what WVU's policy is.

Re: West Virginia commit taking a visit to ISU
as far as the video goes, i hope that is the video he sends to schools. the choice in music is "classy," its a good thing that they probably dont even watch it with the volume up, or care either way.
also, he is wicked fast and has tremendous vision, the only knock i can see is that he does not have many YAC (C is for contact, not catch), or in other words many broken tackles. i'd imagine that with a redshirt year in the weight room and under jay boulware's instruction, hed improve on that.
