Exactly, it is not hypocritical at all. Other schools are calling our recruits and trying to get a visit. GC has told our kids that he doesn't want their verbal until they are ready to shut down recruiting. If one of our verbals breaks the deal and goes on another visit, GC's decision on whether or not to pull the offer, which he has demonstrated he will do. I think he also had a kid last year that verballed, took another visit, but GC did not pull the scholly. Maybe they had discussed it at the time of the verbal that he had another visit scheduled and planned to take it.
It is up to WV how to respond to one of their verbals taking another visit. Maybe their coach has a different policy of allowing kids to verbal, but still look around.
If all coaches had a policy like GC, there might be less decommits since he insists on getting a kid's word that he has made his final choice. Schools that accept "half-hearted" verbals and know the kid is still looking are just setting themselves up to get burned.
Bottom line, GC has his way and others have theirs. He can't control what other schools do, only what he will do.
