Last time I checked 1 half is a long stretch.

But wow, it's not like we didn't give ourselves a chance to win at the end. I guess I didn't realize that we were supposed to be competing for Big 12 titles in Coach Chizk's second year, especially when he was left a four year rebuild.

Plus, the North Division is not the pillow fight that it was a couple years ago either.
Find me 1 post where I've quit on this team. Not a single one. But at this stage I will not take any moral victories. Great effort? At times. Dropped passes, blown defensive assignments... Great effort in bad tackling. Great effort in dropping CRUCIAL passes. We're not a good team but we WILL be.

Re: OFFICIAL POST GAME THREAD -KU vs ISU

That was a great game, if we had won, it may have been one of the greatest wins in ISU history. I'm sick of people being negative about it. We had no business playing Kansas that closely. It is disappointing loss because we had opportunities- but we played better then I expected with a very young team. Watch out next year, Big12.

A win is a good game. A win for a program like us is a good game. It doesn't make us a good team. This was an entertaining game.... not a good game.

Wow... maybe after we have a national championship you can say that team had a couple good games then.

MrGreg, I have lost count, over the years that I have been watching Iowa State football how many chances that we have had to take a big step forward, and blew it. But you do have to crawl before you can run. This team has shown that they have more Big 12 caliber athletes than I can ever remember.

No.... I hated the fourth and 1 play call going from shotgun formation. Why not line up under center and let our O line get us the yards?? We ran that qb read play WAY too often after the first two series and KU adjusted and shut it down but we kept calling it. AA is not Vince Young (yet!), we shouldn't run that play more than three times a game.

Oddly enough, it's a process. You simply don't change a team at the drop of a hat--and you can't deny that they are making progress.

Baylor's up next. And decidedly winnable.

This competetive game will put us on TV in the future, too.

Re: OFFICIAL POST GAME THREAD -KU vs ISU

Just like McCarney's teams, this team MUST learn how to win. This team hasn't grasped that EVERY play for our program is a "must win". Chiz will get this group into a position where they know how to win, where every play has absolute meaning. That comes with more physical and mental toughness and experience that can only come..... with experience.

None of those players will tell you it was a good game.

Frankly I don't think it's wrong here to have wanted more out of this game.

We had some great play, showed some resilliance, but we had a chance to make a huge statement here and didn't.

People are starting to revert to the Dan McCarney **** and are taking the moral victory. Gene Chizik isn't about Moral victories. I'll be he even says it in post game interviews.

It's ok to show some freak'n emotion here people. Melt down no, but emotion yes.

Gah I need a Dr. Pepper

Oh we will fight, fight, fight for Iowa State, and may her colors ever fly!

Their 4th down conversions combined with our lack of 3rd down conversions

Oh we will fight, fight, fight for Iowa State, and may her colors ever fly!

Okay... I can't believe I'm arguing whether or not this is a good game... but here we go.

I wouldn't expect the players to say it was a good game... it doesn't change the fact that it was.

We played a top 20 team to the end... had chances to win. Held a VERY potent offense to 0 first half points.. etc, etc.
