I agree with you on these but not the ones referenced earlier. I think a little color thrown in on the PA is not a bad thing, just depends on the remarks made.

He's used them before, but I don't mind them. It is way better than in '99 when the PA guy slipped into play-by-play mode and announced our play action pass while it was live and in progress. Talk about a home disadvantage.

No... He shouldn't say that... Along with... Thats another first down. or make some noise. I think he should be mono tone and be completely boring..

I also believe there should be no band or loud music played... (sarcasm)

Interesting topic. I think the PA announcer could be walking a fine line with the "he got his bell rung" comments (especially if a kid ends up seriously hurt.)

Anyway, I got tickets to the game from a buddy who got them from a KU alum. They were in the KU section. Some older KU gentlemen in front of me - said "Bush League" EVERYTIME the PA said "And that's another Cyclone......FIRST DOWN."

I don't get it I guess. What is bush league about getting the crowd into the game?

What I'd LOVE to hear is completely monotone, technically accurate form of homerism.

Imagine the opposing team tries to pass on 1st down and the QB gets sacked...

"Johnson is the ball carrier, tackled by Anderson, Johnson, Smith, and Williams. Forward progress brings up a second and 19..."

maybe too subtle...

[Sidenote - where I sit the crowd is so noisy that we hardly ever hear the PA announcer anyway.]

"We can either mimic what others do, or we can establish our own ISU traditions."

Lest I be mistaken, Sir Fuddy-Duddy, football is a sport, and sport is a form of entertainment. How dare they attempt to make it more enjoyable or fun for the fans? Off with their heads!

I know Arkansas also does the first down thing, or at least did before this year when they were able to get first downs, so I guess that makes the SEC bush league as well as the Big 12.

What, the P.A. announcer thought he was Dennis Miller?

I understand those who enjoy it, but I think it makes us look like a program that needs something other than the football to entertain the fans.

Yesterday, that clearly wasn't the case.

If Walden was back, fine, but we don't need some guy giving our atmosphere the minor league baseball feel.

A three legged dog walks into a bar and says, "I'm lookin' for the man who shot my paw."

I love it, it's our home field, at this point we should take every advantage we can get within the rules. He doesn't do it anywhere near enough to be annoying or over the top, only on key plays, I think Karl does a great job.

And I, Bruno, will dive 1,000 feet into a block of cement. On my head, yet!
