I haven't read through all the threads/posts so I apologize in advance if this has been pointed out...but yesterday's game was an EXACT replica of 1999 Kansas State home game where Iowa State led 28-7 at half and K-State came back in a FURY in the second half.
Only difference was, yesterday, we actually fought back with a chance to win.
In both 1999 and 2008 we were VERY, VERY close in several games.
1999 (4-7) - Losses vs. K-State 28-35, vs. Colorado 12-16, vs. Texas 41-44, @ Tech 16-28, @ Kansas 28-31
2008 - Losses @ Iowa, @ UNLV, vs. Kansas. Most likely a couple more.
In 2008, hopefully we can get to 5 wins (we play 12 instead of 11)...then make a big jump in 2009.
I'm not playing the moral victory card, trust me...or better yet, go back and read my previous posts. WINNING is all that matters.
But through 5 games I already see big similarities between 2008 & 1999...I'm just hoping 2009 is similar to 2000 :-)

This is why I am not getting excited about ISU yet. We all knew what was coming at halftime, and then saw it played out first hand in front of us in the second half. This is not the first time I have seen this as an ISU fan. In fact, I do not remember a game where they did not dribble it down their leg.

yesterday's game reminded me A LOT of the 99 KSU game. And yes, this team reminds me a lot of the 99 or 04 teams. Better than either of those teams, but playing a tougher slate. There is a lot to look forward to.

I'll order up another shot of sin, I'm running twice as hard into the wind, I'll hitch a ride when the next one comes in, fell off the wagon again...

I thought about that exact game during halftime and admittedly, I was fearing the worst.

It's the Ron Zook plan everybody.
Year one, lose big.
Year two, lose small.
Year three, win small.
Year four, win big.
Seems like we're right on track for that.

Seems like we're right on track for that. Any 20 year Cyclone fan is not buying this. More like:
Year one, lose big.
Year two, lose not as big.
Year three, **** little wins down leg.
Year four, **** little wins down leg.
Year five, **** fewer little wins down leg.
Year six, fire coach.
Year seven, see year one.

Everybody who was at both games was thinking the same thing at halftime. The biggest positive (there were MANY negatives), to me, was the way we fought back after going down 9. Down 9, it's essentially over...but the young guys showed me a lot fighting back. Of course the last 4 plays were a joke, but that drive and onside was really impressive. People forget the onside was true freshman to true freshman.
