This is as good as I could feel about 2-3...

Looking back on yesterday's loss, and looking ahead to Baylor, I couldn't help but think of what I was thinking about the Clones the last time we went to Waco in 2004. We were 2-4 with close losses to Iowa and CU, and had been pummeled by OSU and A&M. After the A&M game, it seemed to me that the team had given up, and I was looking forward to basketball. We went down to Waco and pulled out a very nice win on a last minute drive, and bam, we got the old ball a-rollin. That team, like this team was very inexperienced and pretty talented. There is no reason, with the way this team has played and continues to grow, that they can't go down to Waco and get a win. Griffin is good, but Reesing is a better complete player, and Baylor's D is nowhere near as good as KU's. This team has made some great strides, but just isn't quite putting it together. The talent and the heart are there, and the rookie mistakes will end at some point. They did us in yesterday, but that won't happen every time. This team has the ability to run with everybody they play, and we will surprise some people this year. Do we play in December? Probably not, but this team isn't going to quit. They are definitely a better team, imo, than the '04 team, but so is the rest of the conference. There is a lot to be excited about, and all I can really ask is they go out, play hard, and give every other team their best shot.

I'll order up another shot of sin, I'm running twice as hard into the wind, I'll hitch a ride when the next one comes in, fell off the wagon again...

Feeling good about a loss is why we have been who we are for so long. I had to stop watching at halftime to go to basketball and new we'd find a way to lose. I hate being right. It will be interesting to see how the team responds to this. If they take half the satisfaction that the fans have we're toast.

Well, I hate that kind of loser mentaility, so maybe we're even.

Who's "feeling good" about a loss? If anything, it's stopping most people from committing seppoku after another gut wrenching loss. I'm satisfied that we're impoving, and glad to know the improvement will continue.

I love the literacy level of this board. Never said I felt good about the loss, but had you told me we would be 2-3 prior to the season, I would have expected to be in for a loooong season. My point is this team does a lot of good things, and there is reason for optimism. This is a huge difference from many years past. Things are getting better. Should we be happy about where we are? No. Should we be excited about where we're going? Yes.

We need to win next week and all be happy sitting at 1-1 in big 12.

We've been competive and the last two games have come down to final plays. I like that. I don't like that we're 2-3.

I think we can definately get the ball rolling here in October if we want to -- unfortunately, it could have started yesterday as well.

We have a good football team they just need to learn to put it all together for 4 quarters! To me growing up and watching this team we have more young talent than we ever had! Darius Darks will be a star and Sedrick and leonard! we never quit and we never say die! its a reflection of our coach we still can be competive and win games! dont give up cyclone fans! were gonna get those bears!

I disagree mostly because 2 of the 3 losses came against teams that I don't consider very good, Iowa is mediocre and UNLV I would term below average.

We've beaten the teams we should have.

Weve lost to the teams we could have.

Soon that will all change. Im willing to be patient as I can really see where Chizik is going with this team, especially defensively.

Go Clones! Go Knights!

Most Ia State fans are just happy to tailgate and lose football games and leave at halftime, happy knowing that the sun was shining ...the beer was cold..and oh did I mention...the football team did NOT get Blown-Out!!!

Such if life as an ISU football fan...expect to lose and enjoy the very few wins that come along...

Are things ever gonna change? I doubt it will ever change in my lifetime...maybe you young guys will see improvement in the football fortunes ...I doubt I ever will!!!

I disagree, and I'm an old guy - been following and been a fan since the Major's days - and have seem some glory.

Opportunies lost? Absolutely. Not only for wins, but for recruiting impacts, most likely an opportunity for a bowl game, an extra month of practice, and the revenues.

Opportunity gone? NO WAY. If coach can have another recruiting year this year and have it show up on the field like we've seen this season as well as continuing to physically develop the players - we have a very bright future. Then it comes down to being able to retain Chizik or bringing in someone that can continue the upswing.

ISU fans are the greatest in the world. All they ask for is hope and the belief that we have a chance to win every time we step on the field - Johnny Majors (paraphrased)

Ya gotta have the horses, man - Johnny Orr.

Great comment and appreciate the perspective of someone who's watched a lot of ISU football.

Some may take solace in the fact we will probably be the best 3 or 4 win team in the country....

Improvement is noticable but until it reflects on the scoreboard it shouldn't be something we're proud of.

Chiz is the guy and his teams will win more than they lose in the very near future.

And yesterday was NOT a good game!
