Odds of the Connections Channel coming through...
for the BU game?
They've done this before. Personally, I think its a great move to help Mediacom and their image, plus with Iowa married to the BTN, the connections channel is ISU's for the taking statewide.
But the luck may someday run out and we have to pony up.

I hear UNI is scheduled for the Connections Channel at the same time...

The channel the game is on is available on their sports tier, right?
Why would they give away something they are trying to sell?
In the past, I think they've worked out to broadcast the game on a channel they don't normally have. This is the first time I can think of that we've been broadcast on a "premium" channel.
If it is on the sports tier - I'm not sure about that.

They broadcast the SDSU game on FCS C and Mediacom simulcast it on the Connections Channel.
I think that happened only because it was the beginning of the season and they wanted people to see it. Midway through the season, and on the road, they're going to make you pay for it they think the demand is there.

Speaking of the "sports tier." Has anyone else noticed that Mediacom took away ESPNU? Is that a part of the sports tier now?

That's disappointing. But I'm going to be gone that morning anyways(its an 11:30 game, right?), so it doesn't much matter. I'll just listen on the radio.

I would just pay the 3.95 for football and drop it in the off season. There is constant football on all the time. Yes its not Direct TV Sports PAK good but it pretty good for under $4. I mean if you think about it....I have paid $7.90 for 2 months of service and am getting 2 ISU football games out of it.
Make sure you don't call the charge. But make sure you call the foul on the scrum.... -
Re: Odds of the Connections Channel coming through...
There will also be 2 MBB games on ESPNU. Wrestling and volleyball have the potential to appear on CBS-CS (ex-CSTV) and/or ESPNU.
The FCS channels have football, basketball, all sorts of replays/coaches' shows, among other things.

Re: Odds of the Connections Channel coming through...
No offense, but if you aren't willing to pony up the extra $ for these types of channels to watch ISU, then you kind of lose the right to complain about them not being on TV.

Re: Odds of the Connections Channel coming through...
ESPNU has been on the sports pack for mediacom for quite a while for me atleast. For what it costs I think it is worth it. You also get the coaches show on FCS as well.

Re: Odds of the Connections Channel coming through...
I bought the sportspack before the SDSU game and haven't cancelled it yet. It is kind of nice because they have lots of college football programming. There is also lots of coverage of Big 12 programs--like coaches shows and the like.
It isn't great, but I think it is an okay deal for $4 a month. I am really interested to see what it is like once college basketball starts up.
And yes, ESPNU is part of the sports tier.
