Breshears size

Give this kid a break people. We need someone just like him in our offense. A JJ Moses type player. A playmaker.

I remember watching Colt Brennan a few years ago at Hawaii throwing for a ton of yards to all these quick, little scat back like WRs. They all could take a reverse, a screen, a slant, or even a hitch pattern the distance because they were so quick and elusive. This is what I was hoping that Jason Carlson would bring us this year, but I guess he hasn't panned out yet?

When I watch our current team play... I love all our WRs, but they are all basically great possession guys, but not any of them have shown me that they can take a short slant or screen the distance by making a couple guys miss and then outrunning everyone else to the endzone. Hamilton, Sumrall, H. Jones, Sed Johnson, and Darks will all catch the ball in traffic and take the hits and hold on, which is great, but I wouldn't call any of them "playmakers". They could all probably score off of a fly pattern, but I doubt they could take a short slant the distance.

We don't need more Todd Blythe types right now. We have plenty of those kinds of WRs. We need a JJ Moses/Devin Hester type player.

I think that besides our running game, the big thing we are missing this year is a few more slot wr's.

All I know is in his highlights, he runs away from alot of people.....trust Chiz he knows what he needs...

KU had that little guy in their backfield, he was lightning quick, and we couldn't seem to get a hold of him. I thought at the time, we should have one of these guys, who can hide while he is running.

KSU also has a small slot receiver that has been making a lot of plays for them this year. I love the Beshears commit. He offers something that none of our other receivers have. Not to mention, he's already returned two punts for TDs this season. Think ISU could use a weapon at PR??? I do.

Breshears is listed at 5'-9" 185 lbs.

Tim Dwight is listed at 5'-8" 180 lbs. and he has played 10 years in the NFL.

My conclusion, Breshears is big enough if he has the speed.

DJ would sure beat putting O'Connell back there. nothing against him, but he's not a punt returner

I only saw one person comment on his size being a negative. Heck...I view it as a positive myself.

Agree! we need that little waterbug type of receiver that can take a 5 yard slant and turn it into a 20 yard TD. We have enough 6'1"- 6'" guys that can run and jump but can't make anyone miss.

I completely agree that our receivers are missing something, but AA could help them out a little by buying more time with his feet and allowing his receivers to get separation. Randy Moss and TO aren't exactly waterbugs and they get a lot of YAC. That's because they're getting the ball in space. Instead of always coming back to the ball the times when AA does scramble, I'd like to see our receivers find a seam. AA then needs to hit them in stride with better touch. Too many of his bullet passes are going right through the WR's hands... I see that as something that both the QB and WR can improve upon.

Oregon State's little scat back is a big reason they beat USC, and look how kent states's little guy has done against us. I think he does fill a position, not so much need, but its nice to have someone like that available.

Agree. That is the one thing AA needs to work on. He seems just a little off on the slants. One thing in his defense is there seems to be a defender where the pass should go and he throws to the back shoulder which minimizes the TO issue. Sumrall's pass against KU was a good example. The LB cut that route off and the CB was jumping it so AA threw to Sumrall's back shoulder. Of course the Jones pass could have been 15 yards if he hit Jones in stride.
