ISU has a clear advantage in Kickoff Coverage and Punt Returns, and a case could be made for the FG/PAT game, as well. Baylor has missed 2 PATs, and only attempted 4 FGs. 3 of Mahoney's 4 FG misses were in the slop at Iowa.
Here's a breakdown of the FGs for each team so far:
ISU - Made (9): 35, 36, 30, 30, 48, 43, 37, 31, 43
ISU - Missed (4): 41, 38, 21, 46
Baylor - Made (3): 20, 23, 32
Baylor - Missed (1): 33
The longest FG Baylor has attempted was 33 yards, and they missed. That could be a big advantage for ISU.
Man, do I love having Grant Mahoney.

Re: ISU/Baylor : Special Teams Stats
Very good information...We rely heavily on good field position and I think we have the easy edge on this one and it should help us out immensely I hope. I wouldn't mind seeing a punt/kickoff return to see our team start out.

LJ has looked close to busting one. Would be great to see it happen.

Re: ISU/Baylor : Special Teams Stats
You guys probably have the edge in everything except punting. As for turnovers, we don't make very many...at least we haven't so far. Not even OU could get a turnover against us, so we're in pretty good shape as far as taking care of the ball.

Re: ISU/Baylor : Special Teams Stats
That first stat is a little misleading. Mahoney leads the Big 12 in attempts and is near the top Nationally (tied with Wakes kicker who is among the best in the nation). He is also 3rd in points in the Big 12 as far as kickers go. When I googled Baylors kicker, I was actually surprised to see that he and Grant actually participated in many camps together.
